So I've started filling in events, meetings and workshops on my June calendar at school...time is flying! Also just booked tonight a weekend getaway with dh to Saratoga NY and Lake George for late June... I love my kiddos, still feel like there's much to do in my waning time with them...but thinking of June and summer is a bit tantalizing... Where are you in your timeline?
We go until June 6. There is at least one event to cancel out teaching each week until then. Our big musical is tomorrow! I can't believe we are already at May.
30 more student days. We are on an "off" calendar this year due to construction in the fall. School usually starts in mid August and ends by Memorial day. This year we started in early September and won't end until mid-June. I think everyone is starting to go a bit crazy with how much time is left! Usually we'd be approaching the end of the year by now, but there are 6 1/2 weeks left.
We still have 8.5 weeks left. Our last day is June 27. TOO. LONG. We had the same issue as waterfall - construction pushed the start of school back two weeks from mid August until after Labor Day. We were originally going to get out mid June, but now it's late June. Sometimes it feels close because we are already planning things in June (book fair, Open House, career day, etc), but usually it feels very far away... I am moving and changing jobs so I'm feeling pretty impatient to begin my new journey, and I don't fit in super well anymore because ALL our meetings and trainings are about next year now, and I won't be there. It's kind of a strange feeling.
My kids are in shut down. As in my own children. Shut. Down. 2 weeks left to go-minus elementary track day, minus county track meet, minus 10:00 start for senior day, minus the last day, and minus cleanup day.
I'm a bit bitter when I read I have the same number of weeks/days left as most of you guys when I feel we start so early! We're back on August 7th with kids this coming fall. Anyhow, we're down to one month exactly as of today. 21 days. This is my calendar for the rest of year. There are also spring dance rehearsals that haven't been scheduled yet, not to mention last minute IEP meetings and end of the year parties (for the teachers!). -May 5-State Science Test -May 6-State Science Test -May 6-Maturation/Puberty Talk -May 7-Kayaking trip -May 8-Volunteer Breakfast -May 8-Field day picnic with other elementary -May 8-AIDs Talk -May 13-Trip to Apple Store to learn about iMovie -May 14-Out all day for math adoption meeting -May 14-Band Concert -May 15-4th Grade Famous People assembly all am -May 16-Water Safety Assembly -May 19-5th grade leads the Random Acts of Kidness assembly -May 23-Middle School Tour -May 26-No School -May 28-Raging Waters Waterpark/Graduation trip -May 30-Spring Dance/Last Day of School It's NUTS.
Kids' and teachers' last day is June 5th. My last day in the office is June 20th. Then, five weeks off!
13 school days that includes field day tomorrow and two early release days at the end of the year. Also, end of year award assembly. Basically 9 classroom days! It's basically herding cats at this point!
Oh my....eeek. who does these talks? Why do they wait until school is letting out? Seems like something that could be taught in health class during the year.... Reminds me of when my sons were younger and we lived in Virginia...parents could view the health/family living lessons ahead of time...they sent a parent letter in the spring listing the dates of 'THE LESSONS' ...and then parents could opt their kids out...so I go to school, read the lessons, and decide to sign the remission slip because I figured it was better my son hear it from a teacher rather than have it repeated to him on the playground..I send in the remission slip and as each date comes up on the calendar, I ak my son about 'anything new' he learned at school that day...he tells me, oh yeah we talked about health, safety, nutrition and I was like turns out what I signed was the opt out form, not a permission slip!
Our nurse teaches the classes. I have no idea why they wait until the end of the year-she just contacted us to schedule them. The parents are able to view the materials in our library, and we have an opt out form as well. I wish they would do it a bit earlier-my kids really, really need to know about deodorant!!
I have 11 more teaching days with my kids (at my school we teach the kids two days a week). Last day is the second week of June. We have a poetry evening. We have history day where the kids are acting out Julius Caesar. We have a historical figure parade.
Oh no, we always go until the end of June. I'm surprised they aren't making us go on Monday, June 30th! (We always start after Labour Day).
26 more days but I am taking 2 off so really 24 for me!! We have a 4 day weekend for Memorial day!! So we're done on June 11. We start back the last week of August.
Assessments, assessments, assessments! I'm assessing 4 classes for our end of the year reading benchmark. I'm figuring that should be about a week a class. I'll also fit in working with the teacher I'm switching positions with for next year. She'll come see me in my position, and I'll go see her in hers & get to know her class. I have a half day retreat, a full day retreat, and two student half days in there also.
My last day with kids is the 15th. I teach at a small private school and we always let out a week or so earlier than the public schools. I will be back for the next week organizing and packing up my room though.
Our last day is June 12th. We have to make up a handful of snow days. I am so ready to be done with this year!
I have no idea! I know they want to take a staff picture. I'm hoping it ends up being a more...optional...kind of day, especially since I won't be returning next year!
We have 33 days left with students, and 35 all together, as we have two days for teacher meetings/cleanup/etc.
21 weekdays with the students and then about three to five training days. ahhhh....so close! No wonder I'm wiped out!
I think I need to take a sick day sometime next week. I have only done that 1 day this year. I have gone to school 3-4 times when I should have stayed home, once I didn't eat for 2 days due to food poisoning, but I worked and once I had to come home after 4 periods. Today 2 of classes sort of lost it, I got very frustrated. I guess it wasn't as bad as it could have been, my P actually said this is pretty normal, and could be much worse, so I guess it's not a sign of bad classroom management. Yesterday while I was getting ready I wished I could have just stayed home, had dreading thoughts about the day, but then it turned out to be awesome. So who knows. Tomorrow is finally Friday, and next week I will keep in mind to take a day off if I must, but other than that we have 4 weeks left, which includes the last week all minimum days
So true! Our kids get the puberty (Um, I mean Human Growth and Development) lesson in January. Teachers show a video and have a chat and take questions, I do this for the girls and the male gym teacher does it for the boys. Plus we go to the local hospital where a nurse educator does a lesson for the boys and girls together. Random additional side note. Today we discussed our vocal word "profusely" and how it can be a positive and a negative depending on what is being done profusely. One girl commented that sweating profusely is definitely a negative .
Haven't counted my days but after tomorrow I'll have two regular weeks, then Memorial Day off followed by one regular day and then a 3 day camping trip for the 5th graders, then two weeks plus one more day for the kids. We have 4 inservice days after the kids are done. Usually we only have 1 but due to snow days we have more days to make up than the kids do. I'll be done on the 20th of June.
