Well, I had another 'great interview' yesterday...at least that is how the principal described it when she called to tell me I didn't get the job. I have had only 6 'great interviews' this entire summer. I have created a great website for myself. I have tried to visit the principals of each school I was interested in. I gave out portfolios to 15 schools! I have emailed the principals with information about me and links to my website. All of this and I can't, for the life of me, get a job. I have one school that may call me for an interview in the next few days, if they need more teachers. I have never tried so hard and continued to fail as I have trying to get my 1st teaching job. I even bought that Acing teacher interview jobs, but still didn't ace it. Every principal tells me that I had a great interview and that they will pass my name on, but that they decided to give the job to someone with more experience or someone that 'fit' the school better. What exactly does that mean? Of course, everyone that I express concerns with tells me to substitute for a year, then try again. I can't afford to sub. This is the most emotionally draining thing I have ever done. Everytime I have an interview I get so excited, just to be let down, or better yet, receive no phone call at all. I have had principals avoid my follow-ups, just because they didn't want to talk to me. Where do I go from here?
