So my business cards come in today (yay!), and I was going to go around to a few friends and acquaintances in the local schools and pass them out (not harass anybody or anything). About a year and a half ago, I observed a local teacher and his classroom when I took an Intro to Ed class, and I was thinking about giving him some of my cards (nice guy, he told me to put him down as a reference for my sub application). Since I haven't talked to him in over a year, what do you think I should do: write him an email letting him know I'm available, drop a personal note off in his mailbox, or visit him in person during pre-planning? I figured visiting him in person might not be good because he's probably busy with meetings and... planning. What do you guys think? Thanks in advance!
I'd stop by with a smile and a biz card. Just a quick hello to let him know you're subbing. I've had so much success with face-to-face drop-offs. They staff gets to see that you're someone they want at their school.
I think during these planning days, it would be fine and even a welcome thing... no classes in session, just teachers getting ready, I say yes. If you got the time, drop by and say hi (with a card).
