I just wanted you all to know that Ellen_a, a frequent poster here, has died in a car accident on the way home from vacation on the outer banks. I don't have the obituary at the moment but there is a memorial service this Saturday. She was 25. There is an article in the Virginian-Pilot. Thank you.
Oh My God... Ellen and I would talk often. She was a wonderful, intelligent person.... I am just devestated. If you have any more info, please let me know.
this is so heartbreaking. Ellen was so kind and knowledgeable. I know that she has a twin sister. My thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends. I just can't believe this. I am so sorry.
clara, are you ellen's friend?? can you please tell us where the article is in the Virginian Pilot. I am so sorry for her entire family, loved ones and friends. She felt like family on here......we all lost a friend.
I walked into my classroom this morning and one of the first things I saw on my desk was a book that Ellen had recommended in one of her posts. Her insight and passion about Special Education will be greatly missed.
Like the others how awful!!!! What a shock for her entire family & our a to z family!!! My prayers are with her family & friends as well!!!
Ellen had always been a favorite of many on the forum. She was smart and delightful. I am so sorry to hear this and extend my deepest sympathies to all of you. She will be sadly missed by all of us who knew her on the forum.
OMG!! I could not believe this when I saw it. I was hoping it was a bad joke. Ellen-a will be missed by all. I wish I could go to her funeral. My prayers are with her family and her a to z family . I really can't believe this...
...and to share them with her family. (It amazes me the sense of loss I feel for someone I have never met--what strong connections we make).
I was thinking what a wonderful tribute her postings would make about her. If her family were to read her postings on her(there are sooooo many,) it would be somewhat like reading her diary. She talked about her family and her cats that her Grama took care of when she had to go away. She talked about her twin sister. I hope they do come back and even if they took all of our comments and had them there for her family to read, it would be touching. There are posts where she referred to herself as an introvert, but acknowledged that she was pretty "open" when she talked on the forum. She really was a wealth of knowledge.
Grammy, I was thinking the very same thing... Ellen was a huge support to me, and I'm glad I was one of the lucky few to have gotten to know her on here.
It has been 40 minutes since I read this thread and I am still stunned. I searched her name and just had to sit and look at her picture and pray. MrsC, you are right, I do feel a great loss even though I have never met Ellen. I always knew that she will have some insight and help to offer with all our Special Education posts. I feel like a good friend of mine has passed away. I am really glad that Ellen had gotten a chance to touch the lifes of children. I am glad to have gotten to know her on this site. I know that her comments has helped me be a better teacher.
I researched her as well. She was a lovely young woman. Feeling people over the internet can surely touch one's heart...
I was thinking that this afternoon...I read the one on how she decided to be a teacher. MissFrizzle...I feel the same...I didn't know her well, but remember her avatar & looked forward to reading her comments!!! She will be sorely missed.
I beleive that every person we "meet", no matter the cirucumstances, crosses our path for a reason. Ellen contributed so much knowledge, and often seemed wiser than her years. She has left a mark on all of us..... I have a magnet on my fridge that says it all and seemed so appropriate I expect to pass through this world but once. Any good therefore that I can do or any kindness that I can show to any fellow creature let me do it now..... For I shall not pass this way again. - William Penn
Very nice Frizz....I can't help but thinking what Ellen would be saying in her replies...very humble I can only imagine!!!
Wow!! I'm soo shocked. I've only been a member her a couple of weeks, but I learned so much from her threads. This is soo very tragic. Her family and friend will definitely be in my prayers.
I've been member for only a week, and in that short time, I was touched many times by Ellen's insight, dedication and sweet spirit. What a huge sense of loss you members who knew her from the start must be feeling. I'll keep her family in my prayers, as well as you and all her other friends, too. God bless you all.
My heart hurts for her family and all of the students who would have been touched by her gentle hand. I added a copy of her obituary with an address for a memorial on a separate post. Wouldn't it be a generous act if we conveyed our thoughts directly to her family? They probably have no idea how many of us have been inspired! Willard H. Scott Funeral Home ………… Online Condolences.
