I'm getting ready to evaluate a student using AEPS to see if he/she qualifies for special education services. Has anybody used this assessment system before? If so, how did you like it and what advice would you give me?

Are you making an IFSP or an IEP?

Since if it is for an IEP, what other evaluations will you be using?

I will do some research in this. How old is the kid? Seems like this is for infants and EC.

I use the AEPS as an assessment for all the children that I work with, but it's never used as a stand alone test to determine eligibility for special education services. It shows how the child is doing compared to themselves over time, not the skills/abilities they have compared to same age peers. There are 2 levels of the AEPS, one is for children under 3 and the other is for children ages 3-6. Overall it's an easy assessment to give and it can give some good ideas for next steps for a child for an IFSP/IEP.
