:help: I teach 8th grade American History. I am thinking about projects for next year, but am short on some ideas.

I really want to make sure that my students study economics, which is not covered in our texbook, so I was thinking of doing an entrepreneur project or maybe something related to stocks.

However, I am not even sure where to start.

Does anyone have any ideas, that they have done with their students?

Any help would be appreciated. :help:

    :thanks:
    TIA

I am assuming you want to teach Econ as a stand alone unit

    * there are several really great lessons online about running "companies" where students learn about supply and demand, profit margin, marketing, inelastic/elastic, opportunity cost, ect. . . I do have one but all the info is on school computer. Basically, students work in groups to create and run a company. Each day you pass out event cards the students have to react to. It is a great game and when I taught Econ was the highlight of the year.

*Is there a Junior Achievement program in your school/district/area? Jr Achievement is an excellent program for teaching finacial skills. While not really econ in the technical sense, it is a great program.

*as alice mention, tons of stock market games available.
