We were supposed to drive to Syracuse, NY today to in-laws for christmas with them...looking at the weather all morning and decided not to go...we could probably get there but coming back tomorrow would be bad...snowing here started at 10 am and is expected to last thru 6 pm tomorrow...
Who else is having a 'snow day'?

    LOVING IT!!!!

We stopped at the supermarket after mass... for the necessities: potato chips, milk (we're always low on milk) and cereal.

The line was forever; we ended up at 7-11. They were sold out of bread, but I think we have most of a loaf at home.

Brian's new sled should get a decent workout, as will all the new hats and mittens. AND the toys, and the Christmas cookies we never made...

You guys on the east coast stay safe! We're not expecting any new snow this week, but we weren't expecting any last week either. You just never know around here

Enjoy your snow day, even if you can't visit your in-laws.

I had to work at the hotel yesterday. It began snowing at 7am (when I went in) and didn't stop all day. I also had to work over for an hour because the manager had decided to let the second shift person clean the stay-over rooms instead of bringing in any housekeepers.

My ex was supposed to bring the boys to my house for our Christmas yesterday, but the roads were so bad they could not make it. When I finally did get off work, I ended up parking my car at my aunt's house and walking up the big hill to my house.

By the time I got home and settled in, I was definitely ready for a long winter's nap.

So, today I have to go back down the hill to get my car and also call my ex to see if they can bring the boys over this afternoon.

My grandparents live in Syracuse :)

We have a snow day here in Atlanta! Snowed yesterday (and stuck) for first time in over 100 years (on Christmas)!!
I went sledding for the first time since I've lived here (13 years) with my brothers! We were kids again! Lol

Sounds like it was lots of fun, ST! By the way, they make these cool little sleds designed for babies 6-24 months. I'm dying for one of my friends with a baby (or two) to come visit me so I can have an excuse to buy one! I saw a little baby...maybe 9 months, yesterday, just giggling up a storm while her mom walked her down the "baby hill" at the dike. So cute!

I live about ten minutes from Syracuse (it's funny how many people on here have connections to Syracuse!) and for once we have no snow...although it is freezing! But just not having snow is a welcome break from the ridiculous amount of snow we've had this month! You're probably so much better off staying home, though, czacza with all of the snow that you would probably have to drive through to get here!

It started a little while ago here. We're supposed to get anywhere from 4 to 10 inches by the time it ends tomorrow morning. Kids are of course hoping for 10. I'm just happy for the excuse to stay inside the house and relax. Already put my brand new stand mixer to use making peppermint and white chocolate covered brownies. They're cooling and will be cut into in about half an hour.

We would have gotten to Syracuse (actually Fayetteville and Cazenovia) but getting back tomorrow could have been tough. Dh and I might go up for an overnight later in week...we'll see...it's been nonstop snow here since 10 am and a lot coming down right now.

It started around 1pm here while I was at the grocery store! The store was a madhouse since people were trying to stock up for the next few days. Not much is sticking at the moment but they said we could get up to 3 feet. I hope not!

    TeacherNY - love that Avatar!

What a waste of a good snow day tomorrow - it definitely would have been one of the 2 we are being allowed this winter! LOL! I feel badly for all those traveling back from their Christmas holidays. I understand Rt 287 and Rt 24 in Jersey are especially treacherous.

We have about 6 inches here. It is beautiful, but my brother and his kids are in-route here -- what usually takes about 5 hours has taken over 7, and he's still not here. Thank goodness for cell phones so we know they are safe.

We had another Christmas family celebration today. We started earlier so we could get home before the weather was worse. The ride home wasn't fun. We were on rt287 and the conditions were horrible. I am happy to be home finally relaxing. Went to the supermarket this morning to get things to make chili for dinner:)

We had some snowflakes come down and stick on the cars this morning. And it's COLD and windy here right now...feels like the northeast!!
Speaking of Syracuse, I went to college near there and it snowed on the day I graduated (in May) eons ago.
This thread reminds me of the reasons I moved to Florida the minute I graduated from college.

We've been getting that all day...though no new snow. The winds are blowing it off the rooftops and off the other places where it's built up. We went skiing today and when we got down by the river it was just gorgeous to watch the snow blow across the frozen river!

We have about 9 inches here in NC, a massive amount for us. I went out for toilet paper this morning and got stranded when my serpentine belt slipped off and caused my car to overheat. All turned out well thanks to the help of some perfect strangers, but I sure picked a bad day to go get tp! Should have used paper towels!!

Same here Alice about 14 inches. Driveway and road is plowed for now, and the electricity is still on, always a blessing. Generator is ready to go should we need it. DH just left for work.
What bothers me is the wind howling and plowing off the pond. The house is creaking.

As long as we have electricity we will manage. We do have a generator but it's in the garage that is buried in the snow. My poor dog went out to pee last night and fell off the porch into the snow. I bet he won't want to go out this morning LOL

No generator here, but we very seldom lose power. (It helps that National Grid is located in my town :) )

If we did, the neighbors across the street have a fireplace, and we're friends; I'm sure they would be OK with a massive sleepover party. Or we would get into the car, take our credit card and some suitcases, and find a hotel with power and an indoor pool.

    When life hands you lemons...

    I don't know gigi.

I'm on Long Island, not NYC; there are no subways here.

Hang on, let me check the news.
