How many of you have Earth Science in your High School?

Nearly everywhere I have been the Earth Science classroom was always found in the middle school classroom. Here in my HS now there is one Earth Science for Seniors and Juniors normally to make up a science credit.

We do, its our regular 9th grade science class. If you are in honors; however, you NEVER take it as you move right to Physics in 9th grade.

I had Earth Science in 7th grade. However, it is also offered at the high school level. You can take two tracks...

    TRACK 1:
    9th - Biology
    10th - Earth Science
    11th - Chemistry

    TRACK 2
    9th - Biology
    10th - Chemistry
    11th - Physics

I had Earth Science in 6th and 9th grades, but the curriculum has changed a lot since then. Middle school is now integrated (instead of Earth in 6th, Physical in 7th and Life in 8th) and in High School there are various Earth Science courses that juniors and seniors can take for science credit. There were 1-2 transition years where honors kids could test out of it, but when I was in 9th everyone still had to take it.

In my high school, it went:

    9th-Earth Sci
    10th-Bio
    11th-Chem
Then physics was an elective for seniors.

Where I teach now though, there is no Earth Sci. and it goes
    9th-Bio
    10th-Chem
    11th-Physics

Earth Science is a 9th grade course in my district which is rather stupid since it does not count for college eligibility requirements. California requires Bio and Chem in high school for college eligibility.

Interesting. Here, if you're on the honors track, you take it in 8th grade. If not, you take it in 9th.
