    Hi everyone,

The school that I am working for is aiming to develop an early reading intervention program and was looking to build some resources for this. Can anyone suggest any games, strategies, books, well known educators that have written about this topic, etc that I could research? It would be greatly appreciated=)

    Thanks!

Have you checked out, or do you have access to, Barbara Taylors Early Intervention Reading program? It is basically a set of books that includes alphabet books, poetry books, and picture books. Students listen to and read the poems together several times each week. They act out the stories and describe what they see in the pictures (building vocabulary). I have written the poems on to sentence strips and then we look for certain letters, discuss where ot start reading, highlight rhyming words, etc. Barbara Taylor was the Reading First Guru and spent a lot of time researching best practice.
