I mentioned my middle school math cert and the principal asked if I had applied for the 6th grade math position at the intermediate school in the district. I hadn't known about that vacancy because this district hasn't been posting ANY positions in the past 3 weeks even though there apparently are openings. So after a great interview with him, I went home and called that intermediate school and now I have an interview for a 6th grade math position on Monday! It sure does pay to call them! My mind is going to focused on my next interview instead of waiting to hear back about the 5th grade postion...sure makes waiting a heck of a lot easier!
That's great! You never really know what's out there. I was recently hired in pretty much the same way. I applied for an elementary position because there were supposedly openings; however, I ended up getting an interview for Middle School Science (I'm already HQ) and got the job! (there weren't any postings for it either). I wish you all the best!
Do they post testing scores on the state site? You could look at the scores and go in prepared as to where their strengths and weaknesses are.
That sounds great! And yes it will def. keep your mind off the other interview. Just keep on keeping on! You'll find something!
Another interview!! I got another call this morning. This is for the same school my son goes to for a .5 K position. It does have full time benefits though so I am considering it. I know this principal well and the K teachers since my son just finished up K. It's for early tomorrow morning!
WOW... congratulations on all the opportunities that you are getting. Hopefully one of these interviews will lead to something wonderful!!
How exciting! The school where I will be teaching is where my daughters will be in 1st - 8th grade (assuming we still live in the same town) and that was a big factor for me. Next year they'll be in full day Kindergarden though (at a different school building). Weigh all the factors, ups and downs of each position. It's a hard decision to make...go for what feels right and what you feel most comfortable with. Best of luck!
