My homeroom is in the process of doing "Santa all year long." We have pictures of Santa (downloaded from the internet) wearing a leprechaun's hat, cuddling with his valentine, wearing construction paper bunny ears, kneeling at the creche, and so on. It's looking incredibly cute!!!
Quick and simple one here... Cover the door in a cheap black plastic tablecloth. Stick a 3 in diameter red glittery circle in the middle about your eye level. Put wording up that says "Rudolph at night". I've done it before. The other teachers got a kick out of it. I think I got the idea of the net.
I do the Twelve Days of (Sixth) Grade... 12 spelling tests 11 AR books 10 math facts etc, etc, etc The kids look forward to seeing what comes next, and it is a good countdown to Christmas. My favorite is 5 minutes of recess! They always want to change that to 12...
A teacher at our school decorates her door as a gingerbread house at Christmas time. It is very cute.
I've made a fireplace out of red butcher paper (find clip art and trace off the overhead with a Sharpie), twisted brown butcher paper to look like logs, used orange and yellow tissue paper for flames. I let the kids trace a stocking template, decorate it, and hung them on the "mantle."
Here's what I did. I had each child cut out a circle from construction paper (white). They drew red stripes. I then took a pic of each child and taped it to the middle of the circle. I wrapped them in saran wrap and tied the ends (like peppermints). I put the words..."have a sweet Christmas" It looks cute! Thanks for the ideas.
