Don't ever let your district use "PowerSchool" for attendance and grades

Been using it since February. It's completely crashed twice, when the office gives me my attendance verification reports, they almost never match the paper attendance I keep for records, and it's eaten at least one student's grades.

We use powerSchool. It has not acted as bad as yours. I never verify attendance, though.

I'm sorry. We use PowerSchool and it's yet to give me any problems.

A lot of it depends on your district's technical infrastructure. That tends to be the case when apps like this act up.

The problem tends to be between the monitor and the keyboard (i.e. the user or the tech staff)

I don't have PowerSchool, but I don't keep personal records of attendance since we went online.

Almost all districts in my area use PowerSchool. I suspect the issue you're having is like others are predicting - it isn't PowerSchool, it's the infrastructure, or the tech admin, or the user.

The record keeping program isn't a choice left up to a teacher, so saying "don't ever let your school use it," probably isn't gonna happen.

We are an Infinite Campus school. It isn't an intuitive program, but it has been reliable. I don't keep paper records. We have backups stored offsite, so a crash wouldn't be devastating.

My former P required us to keep paper records, and I'm still in the habit. Technology is never perfect.

I've been told that Power School doesn't keep up with the Java updates.

I've used it the past 10 years & the problems we've had have been related to user input or something at our end, not Power Schools.

We use PowerSchool at my school and I HATE IT as well. For some reason, my PowerSchool doesn't exist in the space/time continuum. When I try to date any assignment, it doesn't work. This makes it a huge pain when I have to run progress reports for specific time frames.

My admins told me to reinstall Java and PowerSchool, which I did twice and no luck. My boss basically threw up his hands and said, "Sorry! Use another teacher's computer."

As far as I know, this has only happened on my computer, which is the same make and model as all the other teacher's computers.

We use PowerSchool only for attendance, and we use Gradespeed for our Gradebook. It's a pain not having an "all in one" system, but we don't generally have problems with Powerschool. Next year, we are getting either eSchoolPlus or Skyward to do both gradebook and attendance.

We use Powerschool as well. I haven't experienced any major issues with it, but our AP overviews the attendance and up until just recently it wasn't giving her an accurate report of attendance. In fact we would have to send her a screenshot of our weekly attendance.
