Just started at a new school. We had to sign in and out on our first week of training and prepping. I thought it was just a one week deal but I found out we have to do it all year long. It's kind of annoying because it would be pretty obvious if you didn't show up right?
All employees in my district have to sign in and out using our individual codes and our fingerprint on the scanner in the main office. Annoying, yes, but you get used to it.
We sign it. It's so if someone asks our secretary if we're in or not, she can easily see. Obviously it'd be difficult to remember off the top of her head who's out when.
Not at our own site. If we are visiting another school or going to a school board office, we do need to sign in or out.
We did at my old school. Mainly because there were several teachers who were chronically late. One that wouldn't even make it until after the kids' tardy bell regularly. New school hasn't said anything yet.
We had to sign in and out at my school last year. I believe the "official" reason given was so that the P had a record of who was/wasn't there in case some discrepancy came up. All of that is tracked online in our sub system (which you have to call even if you're someone who doesn't get a sub). Really, I think it was another way for her to just be controlling...she was always convinced people were trying to leave before contract time even though I never once saw that happen. Kids left at 3:45 and contract time was over at 4:00. We had no buses, so it was all parent pick up/walkers and we all had doors in the back of our rooms that we just let them out so you never were done with kids at 3:45. By the time you wait for the stragglers and pack up your things, it was always past 4 anyway!
I had to sign in and out at my old school. They never looked at it, it was more for documentation purposes if we were audited. The year I left, apparently the new principal would go through the sign in/outs and dock peoples pay if they came late or left early, even by minutes.
At both schools I've worked at in my district, we only sign in. If we go off site during the day, or leave early, we write those times down. When I taught summer school in the same district, we had to sign both in and out and the principal definitely kept an eye on the log.
We have a time card to clock in on. I usually get there about 6:30, but enter by my room. I don't go down the hill to the office until closer to 7:30, so I clock in then. As far as I know, they never look at them.
After the shooting in Newtown our school decided to change some safety policies. In January we started signing in and out if you left to go run errands in the middle of the day. (The signing out wasn't new) then in April we got a computer program that we signed into every morning, and if we remembered to sign out at the end of the day. The same program checked parents licenses for sex offenders or other people who shouldn't be on campus. It keeps track of who is on campus so just in case god forbid that someone or something goes crazy the district has an accurant count of who is on campus it is connected to our attendance program as well. At first it was annoying but we all got used to it. It doesn't give a time we log in it jut notes tht we did log in.
No, we don't have to do either. We rely on the "Trust factor". I'm hoping it stays this way because the moral of our school will drop tremendously with so many changes from last year rolling into this year.
Neither for me.... unless leaving in the middle of the day for any reason, that way the secretary knows I'm gone if someone goes looking for me. Otherwise, we're fine. I come in and go straight to my classroom.
Nope. We pick up our classes from the gym in the morning after the P gives announcements. If he goes to call our class and we are not there, he knows. The other teachers on our team will let him know we are out, or held by a parent, or running late. We are a small school though.
They do, but I only sign in. I taught in a trailer out back last year and I didn't feel like making the long trek to the main building just to sign out. I feel it is unnecessary because they know if I leave early (someone has to cover my last period) and if I were to stay/work overtime and sign out at like 6, I won't get paid for overtime.
At my old district, regular M-F teachers don't have to, but an employee with the type of position who visits more than one campus on a regular basis has to. They weren't strict on it though. I won't have to for my new job...it's a bit of a pain.
We don't do either unless we are leaving the building early or during the school day. This is so that they know where we are in case of emergency.
We are required to sign in, but they don't make us sign out. We always joke that they don't want to know how many hours we really work, they just want to make sure we are there.
We have to fob in even if I walk in with another teacher, we both have to fob. We also have to log in first thing and out last thing. Not sure if they are checking that for times but it seems like it. We cannot leave the building during the day.
We sign in, but not out. We only sign out if we are leaving early for some reason. I think they are going to be installing key fobs this year for safety purposes, but it's yet to happen.
We sign in. We're supposed to be there by 7:10 (class starts at 7:25). If you're not signed in by 7:15, the secretary starts calling and arranging emergency cover for your class.
No signing in or out in my district, except for PD days at other locations. If we leave for lunch or during our specials time, we tell the secretary so she knows we're gone. At my friend's school in another district, teachers sign in, and at exactly 8:00 (their contract time), the secretary draws a red line below the last name on the list. If you're late, you must sign below the "line of shame."
I didn't realize teachers in other places have to sign in/out. The only people who sign in/out are substitute teachers.
We have to fob in and out at my school. Usually sometime during the year the principal will print out a list of times you are late and there will be some sort of discussion about it for the chronically late.
Yes, we have to sign in and out by hand and swipe via a card system. It's a pain in the butt because the machine is REALLY far from my classroom, but it gives me an excuse to say good morning/goodbye to everyone. I'm used to it.
Our substitutes sign in. All staff absences are posted in the office with the name of the sub beside.
