Does the "First Year Teacher Graph" apply to veterans, too?

We've seen the graph go from anticipation (August), survival (October), disillusionment (November), rejuvenation (March), reflection (April-May), and back to anticipation (July)... Does this happen to other teachers besides 1st year? Or is it just me? I'm to the point of really being disillusioned wondering what the heck I'm doing....

It does if that is how you feel. There is no 100% path/sequence that will work for everyone, so just share what it feels like to you!

I know that for me, after many years at this, the stretch from mid-November to Christmas break is the most challenging. Our Thanksgiving weekend is in early October, and then we are in school until Christmas break with only 1 day off which is for Parent/Teacher conferences. The arrival of the colder weather, less sunlight, stresses of writing report cards, and no break take a toll.

I have felt disillusionment nearly every November since I started teaching 10 years ago. To this point, I've always made it back in August, so I guess I'd say the graph is true to my experience, even though I'm no longer a "new" teacher.

Some of it is true for me but I teach year round so it's a little off.

It all depends on what I am doing/ class I have. It seems like a long stretch until Christmas. I get to feeling that way again in mid Jan and Feb too! By the time we get to Spring Break, I am usually wiped out. :) Then it's all downhill! :) In a good way! Summer is on it's way! :)

I definitely follow the front of the graph but I feel that my middle part would go up and down more.

Every year is a totally different beast.
