I just saw a pin on Pinterest claiming, on average, men cry six times a year while women cry around fifty. So what about your significant other? Does he cry a few times a year? And you? (Men, you can of course chime in as well!) My husband has cried once which was when his mother died. He got a little kinda-sorta teary-eyed during a major argument many years ago...I was still a teen. But besides those two times, not a drop! I cry regularly...sweet commercials, sad commercials, actors simply crying in a movie, upsetting news, etc.
I cry all the time! Well from movies and such. One of the more embarrassing crying moments was at the end of Gran Turino when Clint died, I got sad thinking that his puppy was going to be all by himself! My boyfriend will never let that one go. In the four years I've known my boyfriend he's cried twice. The most recent time was when I was in a really bad car accident.
I'm not a crier. I've maybe cried a dozen times in my adult life, and most of those were from being angry. (That's my go-to response when I'm majorly ticked off.) My ex-husband would cry more often than I did.
Never seen BF cry. I'm not much of a crier... except always at the end of Dead Poets Society (when the boys stand on their desks) and any sappy Lifetime movie involving a mother and adult daughter doing something chummy.
Rockhubby had a good cry on my shoulder last month. It was a very bad time for him and I needed to be strong for both of us. Usually, it's the other way around (I weep far too easily), but I have definitely seen the dam burst before.
I've seen my husband cry 1 time in 8 years ... our dog Abby ended up in the vet ER after eating a bottle of Advil. We didn't think she would survive (neither did the vets ... but, she did!) I cry when I get mad. Which makes me even more mad. The most recent was a screaming match with my stepdad (something that has NEVER happened before, but when I've had it ... I'VE HAD IT ... and I felt my Mom was being treated poorly).
My hubs has cried twice since we've been together: one when his grandmother died and two when our 2nd daughter died soon after birth. I cry all.the.time. I'm the most emotional person I know!
Maybe some of these men cry when no one is around to take note that they cry (or maybe not). It's a normal human emotion after all. Just because we don't witness it, doesn't mean they don't experience it.
My BF definitely cries on occasion, although nowhere near as easily as I do. Men face a lot of social pressure not to show emotion or weakness by doing things like crying. It's unfortunate, and I like a man who is able to express himself reasonably.
I have only seen my fiance cry once, and that was at his grandmother's funeral when they mentioned how hard the death of her son (his dad) had been on her. I sometimes wonder if he doesn't cry about his dad sometimes but I never see it. They were very close and I know he misses him.
I can top that - dog things always make me cry. My dog used to get really emotional when I would go away for college - she could tell when I would start packing to go back in the fall and she would start sulking and looking depressed. I hated it because unlike my younger siblings, I couldn't explain to her why I was leaving. Well, my littlest sister used to watch Blue's Clues, and when Steve left and Joe came on the show, the storyline was that Steve was going to college so Joe was going to come live with them. That episode made me cry so hard, and I don't mean getting weepy, but I mean full on bawling. It just made me think of how sad it was to say goodbye to your dog and how you can't make them understand. My mom won't let me live that down.
My SO has cried. Once, when he was in school and I was shouldering all the bills. I got overwhelmed and had a bit of a freak out. He was upset that he wasn't able to take on his part. The second time, we moved across the country. We drove, but we had to fly our cats to my parents. When we dropped them off, our big softy of a male cat started crying and reached his little paw out to us. I turned around and suddenly SO wasn't there anymore. When I got to the car, he had been crying. He said that he felt like he was abandoning our furry kids. I didn't care as much about what people thought and openly bawled in the airport I, for one, am glad that he shows his emotions. My XH never showed sadness, or fear, or any of that. This is a welcome change.
My husband and his friends were talking about this earlier in the year. They all admitted to crying more since they had children. My husband is a 6 foot 3, 285 lb cattle rancher. He has cried more this year than I've seen in a long time. He cries over family, over the death of calves they have worked with, over stress from dealing with stupid neighbors, over the loss of one of his friend's wives, and so on. It is strange to see him cry, but I know when the tears start rolling, the is at the end of his ropes. Heck, we both bawled like babies after watching Toy Story. I'm by far the bigger crier, but he contributes his fair share.
Ever see the Futurama episode with Seymour the dog? Just thinking about it makes me teary eyed. The saddest cartoon I've ever seen.. ever. Here's the ending clip on youtube. That's the main character's, Fry, dog. When Fry was sent into the future he left his dog behind. The whole episode is him remembering all the good times he had with his dog. He wants to clone him but then thinks "oh he must have found another owner and lived a happy life" I cried like a freaking baby. Edit- confession: I just watched the clip, and am crying. Crying over a cartoon dog. *sigh*
Oh my gosh.....Dead Poets gets me every time! I am a crier. I personally like to cry because after I'm done I feel sooo much better. Crying is my response to stress, sadness, anger, frustration, defeat, and most negative emotions I possess. My husband is pretty sensitive, but doesn't cry very much. Usually if it's something heavy he does. When his mom passed he cried a lot, so did I. It was incredibly hard for him.
Neither those stats for my BF & I. I may cry once, maybe twice a year. My BF may cry once every few years, if that.
The more I think about it, I am so glad my husband doesn't cry. The idea bothers me, which I know is ridiculous, but...
My husband (black hair & tattoos) tears up whenever something touches his heart. This became more often for him after he owned his first dog (mine when we met). I think having our little furry friend so dependent upon our love softened his heart. He was recently teased by "the guys" a few weeks ago when he said he couldn't go see Dolphin's Tale because he teared up at the commercial As far as actual crying. Yes, when something sorrowful happens such as death of a loved one. I have had many female high school students complain to me that men don't have feelings. I always challenge that myth and remind them that men (as well as women) feel so deeply that they have been willing, since the beginning of time, to fight and die for their countries, their families and their beliefs.
