I was just informed that I am going to be getting a "Slate"...I am thrilled as I am a techy person...but I am not sure if i am reading the info correctly...Do you have to have a smartboard or can you use a computer and a regular projector?

I used a slate when I was student teaching. You just need a computer with the smartboard software and the projector. If I remember right you have to use a specific projector with it, but I could be wrong.

The slate is really nice because it lets you move around the class while teaching, but the pen I had with mine was really touchy so I had a bad habit of erasing what I just wrote.

    I have one.

It doesn't require any special software, a SmartBoard, or even a projector. When I first got mine, I brought it home and learned to use it with my home computer . . . which has none of that stuff on it. All I did was plug in the bluetooth receiver and I was good to go.

I really love mine. I have a complete Smart classroom.
