Hi there, Im looking for a kindergarten lesson plan on community helpers short 15 minutes in duration i was thinking maybe a brief discussion and then they could act out different types of community helpers or maybe some type of a game please give feedback.. thanks
I would ask the librarian, and if they have a librarian who works specifically in the children's department, then that would be perfect. I don't have any particular ones in mind though.

I usually open the community helper discussion, by writing my morning message: "Who helps us in our community?" Then the students brainstorm a list of people who are community helpers. Before our community helper lesson, we start with a school helper lesson. We brainstorm all the people who help us in school first.
I usually show this short Brain Pop video then talk about the different community helpers that are shown and ask if there are any other ones they can think of. http://www.brainpopjr.com/socialstudies/communities/communityhelpers/
eight occupatons that help This site, http://teacher.scholastic.com/commclub/index.htm, has read and listen stories on occupations around town. Excellent component for helpers unit.
