Just curious. I'm thinking about getting one for my classroom because I spend more time at school than I do at home and I always am in the mood for a good Chai or hot tea in the middle of the day. If so, do you use it? How often do you use it? I know I wouldn't be able to use it when the kids are in the room, but I could do it during my break and during lunch, and especially after school when I have work to do and I need a little something. Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!
I wish I could, but we can't have any appliances in our room. Our caretakers have a Tassimo in their room that we can use anytime (we buy our own discs).
I have a regular coffee maker in my room . . . I haven't used it this year because I have a kid with allergies, so I just feel worried about every food and drink! But, in the past I have used it every day. I wanted to get a keurig - but most of the time, I am making coffee for the whole team. . .and the keurig stuff can get expensive. But, I definitely would get one it I was only going to use it occasionally, and just for myself.
I have one at home but a colleague has one at school (she has an office not a classroom) and she lets us use it with our own K-cups. SO convenient. I am trying to convince our P to just get rid of the old fashioned 4 burner coffee pot and invest in a Keurig and everyone can bring in K-cups. We already bring in our own coffee but custodians and admin are always complaining because people are so thougtless with the traditional machine (never turning off the burners, not cleaning it, etc).
I wish we could have one in our classrooms because I love mine at home. One in the staff lounge would be great too. I only like flavored coffee and the staff one is regular coffee only
Nice. I'm going to talk to my boss tomorrow to see if I can put one in. I can't wait. I really would like to use it at school.
I have one at home and use it every morning to make my coffee for my drive in. I think it's a waste for tea. I still use regular tea bags even with having the Keurig. I prefer it more. We have one in our workroom that anyone can use. There are some K-cups that are free for the taking and a lot of people bring their own in too. I haven't used it since it's been so warm but I probably will because I love the one hot chocolate.
We can't have any appliances, and we can't drink in class. But the coffee machine in the faculty lounge makes a number of different types of coffee and hot chocolate. There's also a juice machine.
Alice, can you at least have water in class? I couldn't imagine teaching without water. I've passed out twice from lack of water so I'm always concerned about drinking enough. Not to mention that if it's a day with a lot of me talking time, I don't think I could go 80 minutes straight without water. I had to eat a granola bar during one of my classes last week as I was starting to feel very light headed. The kids were confused until I explained to them my history and then they were perfectly fine with it.
I don't drink coffee, but if I did I'm sure I'd have one in the classroom. I do drink hot tea from time to time. I have an electric tea kettle that I use in my classroom and it works fine. It cost about 10 bucks. It makes water hot, which is essentially the same thing your Keurig would be doing since you mentioned you'd be using it for tea. It would probably be a lot more cost effective for you to get an electric tea kettle for $10 than shell out $200 to do the same thing.
I have a Keurig at home and bring my morning coffee in a travel mug...we have a donated Keurig inthe faculty room, but I don't use it. I wouldn't spend the $140 for one for a classroom when a travel mug cost about $12.
