I noticed a lot of people throwing them away. I take the ones that I receive with my gifts and use them for gifts the following year:)

    Interesting first post!

Yes, I reuse gift bags--I actually sometimes don't wrap presents until after school is out, and I reuse a lot of the ones I get from my students. ;)

 my thought too, but the OP stops by with a post about once a year.

And yes, I'm all about reusing gift bags.

If they are still in good shape, yes!

Only in a pinch. I'm so paranoid that somehow I overlooked a tag or part of a gift and the person I'm giving it to will realize the bag is a regift. I know it's silly and not a big deal, but that's how I feel.

I think reusing bags is a great idea if you can keep up with them during the year! Growing up my mom always kept reused and new bags as well as fresh tissue paper under her mattress so it was easy to find and wouldn't get wrinkled.

yes! We have a bag we've been passing around my family for about 10 years now. It's become a running joke. I don't think we've bought gift bags for years now.

I think I have enough gift bags to last for the rest of my life and a good part of my children's as well.

I reuse them all the time. I think it's ridiculous that actually wrapping a present / presenting it nicely can cost a big chunk of a small gift. A bow, a card, a bag, it can add up to $10 or more. And it's just the wrapping!

I know!! I love the look of a nicely wrapped present but hate the added cost. And don't get me started on paying 5-6 dollars on a card!

In the christmas sales I bought tissue and wrapping paper for 66% off so that helps with the cost. My family usually doesn't wrap presents we give to each other anyway.

I do! I don't think I will have to buy any gift bags for any occasion any time soon. I have some for Christmas, birthdays, baby showers, weddings, and some tht could be used for anything.

I always reuse. The bag being passed around the family made me think of my family...one year my mom accidentally bought her sister an Easter card for her bday (which is in January, no idea why there was an Easter card on the stand!). For my mlm's bday in July, my Aunt dug out the card and reused that. It's popped up a few times since as a running joke.

My grandmother used to reuse the same birthday card for everyone. She'd just mark through the name. It's become a family collectible.

We reuse gift bags. In fact, I won't give a nice bag to someone unless I'm pretty sure they reuse them. We have some bags and boxes that have been in our family longer than some relationships have lasted. Sometimes we don't even need to change the tags!

I find it sad anyone would toss them. Incredibly wasteful.

If the person doesn't plan on reusing the bag, I normally take the bag back and reuse it later on.

Oh, yes. I have a pile of them in the wrapping bin in the attic.

It's kind of funny... every time my dad gets a present that comes in a gift bag, he gives it to me, telling me to reuse it. I think he's gotten the same bag for Christmas at least 6 times

My parents do and I add to /use their stockpile if we're giving gifts while I'm in my hometown. However, I live in a one bedroom apartment with little storage. I just don't have room to keep clutter like that, so I don't reuse them when I'm there. I'd rather have the clean/organized look than have a bunch of stuff laying around. My parents have a huge storage area in the basement, so it's no big deal for them. Aside from my bedroom closet, I have one additional TINY coat closet in my apartment!

If they're in good shape I reuse them all of the time.
