    Just curious...

What type of school are you in - public/private; elementary/middle/secondary?

    Do you have a:
    school counselor?
    librarian?
    P.E. teacher?
    art teacher?
    music teacher?
    school nurse?
    computer/tech teacher?
    (anything else I'm forgetting?)

These professionals used to be in every school, and now fewer and fewer schools have them. :( They are all so badly needed though.

    ---
I'm in a public elementary school. We have no counselor, no librarian, and no nurse. The others are shared within the district.

Public school 500 something kids. We have 1 counselor but she doesn't counsel she is more testing coridinator. We have a music/art teacher. We have 1 coach. We have a librarian but she is only at our school 1 or 2 days a week. We share her with the rest do the district. We have a nurse. No certified technology teacher. No vice principal. The district has a technology tech for most of the campuses but to be honest I don't see much of ours. All in all we are pretty lucky in what we have. I can't complain too much.

Smaller public school, maybe something around 300 kids or so. 0.2 counselor, 0.6 PE, 0.6 or 0.8 Music (can't remember), 0.4 librarian, no art, nurse (somewhere between 0.2 and 0.8 haha). Even the spec. ed. teacher is 0.6. *sigh*

We are in a public PreK-12 school with two buildings, 1 PreK-5 and the other 6-12. We have around 650 students.

school counselor? Yes, one in each building.
librarian? Yes, one for the district.
P.E. teacher? Yes, one for the district.
art teacher? Yes, one in each building.
music teacher? Yes, one elementary, one band, one vocal...rumor is we will be down to two next year due to lack of interest AND budget.
school nurse? Yes, one for the district
computer/tech teacher? Yes, one for the district. We are a 1:1 district.

I'm in a public K-6 school with approximately 500 kids. We have no counselor, but we do have a full time school psych who essentially takes on that role as well. We do have a full time art teacher, PE teacher, and music teacher. A para runs the library. We also have a para as a "health office assistant" who basically takes the place of a school nurse. She's not certified or anything like that. There is one nurse for the whole district that oversees the paras that run the health offices. I've been in three different schools and have never had an actual librarian or nurse...these positions are always run by paras.

Large, urban, public elementary school: over 1400 students.
school counselor?- Yes, he splits his time 50/50 with a nearby school, so in the event of an emergency he can get to the other school quickly.
librarian? Ish. Yes, we have a librarian, but it's a part time position so between the librarian and the aide every class gets library time every week.
    P.E. teacher? Yes
    art teacher? No
music teacher? Yes, but each class only gets 8 weeks per year with this teacher
school nurse? Yes, but the poor woman is split between about 10 schools.
computer/tech teacher? Yes and no. We have one and she does teach every class every week. We have paraprofessionals that run the computer labs for us, but it's the classroom teacher's responsibility to do the teaching during our daily lab time.

    K-5 site with 600 students.

I'm sad to say that all we have is a school nurse (1x/week) and school counselor (1x/week).

We do, however, have a library assistant who works full-time (she only checks in/out books and shelves them) and a health assistant (3 hours/day).

We have all of those except an art teacher. But we do frequently have artists coming from a local university to do projects with the kids.

We also have a dance teacher, psychologist, social worker, attendance monitor (she probably has some official title I can't think of) parent coordinator, OT, PT (part time), 2 speech therapists, character enrichment teacher (also handles in school suspension), and out of classroom science and math teacher (who teach in addition to the science and math I do in the classroom)

What type of school are you in - public/private; elementary/middle/secondary?
Charter elementary with about 800 students

    Do you have a:
school counselor? Yes, full time. We also have a part time psychologist we share with another campus.
librarian? No. I don't remember the last time I heard of a school in CA having an actual librarian. Library aide, maybe...
P.E. teacher? No. Aides teach PE.
    art teacher?Yes
    music teacher?Yes
school nurse?Yes, but part time. The rest of the time we have a "health aide."
computer/tech teacher? No. We have no computer labs - the computers are in the classrooms. We do have a full time tech support person, though.
(anything else I'm forgetting?) My charter has FAR more "yeses" on this list than most other schools in my state.

    P.E. teacher? no
    art teacher? no
    music teacher? no
    school nurse? no

Long Term Sub School- public elementary- 450 students

    music teacher? yes
    school nurse? no

    Do you have a:
school counselor? I don't believe so.
librarian? Parapro in charge of library
P.E. teacher? yes- he also does the computer lab time, but we must stay w/the kids and they just play on Starfall.

    music teacher? yes- shared
    school nurse? no
    computer/tech teacher? P.E. teacher

    P.E. teacher? yes
    art teacher?yes
music teacher? yes, we're suppose to have 1 .5, but can't find a part time person, so a sub does it
school nurse? no. The office dispenses meds.
    computer/tech teacher? yes

    About 900 students, K-8, Public

Please comment, I've often thought the PE and reading intervention issues were lawsuits waiting to happen.

One PE teacher for grades 6-7-8. There may be one for grades 4-5, only two days a week. In all primary grades, classroom teachers teach PE, if at all. In the past, we have been discouraged from doing so

No counselor, but one classified "outreach" specialist on Thursdays

    School nurse only on Mondays

Classified library "aide" 3 hours a day

Half time music teacher for grades 4 and 5 only. All other grades get no music.

No art teacher. All teachers teach art on their own.

No computer Tech teacher. All teachers teach computers on their own.

We do have a reading intervention specialist for grades 4-8 only. If primary grade kids need reading or math intervention, the regular classroom teachers do all RTI with no outside support.

Court / community school grades 9-12, 67 students enrolled currently (this changes weekly)

    We have:
    - 4 core teachers. We all also teach 2 electives, so 2 teachers teach PE as elective, which ends up being 1 full time PE teacher
    - 1 self contained sped. teacher with 2 TAs
    - 2 sped teachers who are not always here, but between the 2 of them they spend 5 days on our campus
    - 1 principal, no VP (my P is in charge of my school, juvenile hall and a community school 20 minutes away)
    - 1 counselor and 1 psychologist
    - several counselors (mostly guidance counselors who only deal with transcripts and services, including family services)
    -2 full time probation officers
    - 1 tech guy who's not on campus, but he's pretty readily available whenever I need him
    - 1-2 custodians who come and clean classrooms and campus every day
    - 2 front office staff
    - no nurse
    - no library nor librarian
    - no art , no music teacher. If a teacher was art / music credentialed, they could teach art or music as elective, if they wanted to, which would be 2 periods.

We also have a junior high school on campus - this is actually 1 self contained classroom with maybe 8 students, 1 teacher and 1 TA.

Based on other posts, I can't believe how much we have for such a small school.

    Public 6-12, about 2,000 students

we share a school psychologist with three or four other schoolS. We have no reading specialist. We have one SRO. We are in danger of losing our librarian - the district is considering closing all school libraries :(. But keep in mind - in FL, all of those teachers you mentioned are elective classes, and electives don't fall under the class-size amendment. They can put 60 kids in one PE class (mandatory for all kids in FL) in order to keep core classes to an average of 22 or 25.
