I do not... other than cheery and colorful. I think I might like to next year. Just pondering really. :)

I'd rather not, but we are required to!

Really? Crazy! I actually like decorating, but most of the classrooms in my building are rather sparse.

We're not required, but my classroom has developed into an apple/old school classroom vibe without me even realizing it. For teacher appreciation week, more than one kid came up to me to ask "what fruit do you like? Oh, never mind, you like apples." :D

    That's cute.

My favorite past classroom of mine was a black, red, and green gingham and apple themed room. My room right now is a blue and green theme with some frogs thrown in.

HA! I like that: "with some frogs thrown in"
I'm going to do that next year - do a color scheme and "throw in" some blue birds and sunflowers and maybe some green apples. Like this:
    http://www.schoolgirlstyle.com/2011/09/bird-theme/
But less birds and more of the colors. And have flat sunflowers instead of making those yellow flowers. I don't want to spend too much time and/or money on the theme!

My theme is polka dots. I used a lot of black and white to use the chalkboard theme too. That way it has a POP of color. I really like it. And it is easy to add other things as well. Each month I change out the curtains that go with the month. So like August is suns, Sept is apples etc. And I decorate around the room for the monthly theme. It's fun and I do it for me mostly. It makes me happy!

Just a color scheme of Azure (blue), lime green, and black. Also all words around the room on bulletin boards are the same font.

I also do the apple/old classroom thing! I've never run across someone else who has done this theme. I'd love to swap decor ideas. :)

Last year, I did black and white chevron with accents of purple and lime. I loved it and got many compliments on my room.

I've had a star theme for the last three year. All of my bulletin boards are trimmed with stars. My students names are on stars on the door. I have stars hang from the ceiling over each table to identify each table's color. My students also have a STAR binder that serves as home school communication. I try to keep things simple, for example I don't have stars on all of my stationary or in all of my centers.

I love Schoolgirl Style! I have lime green and yellow chevron and polka dots. There is some light brown too, and some birds. I do bird table groups and I used to suspend a picture of the bird over the table group. My current school doesn't let us hang anything from the ceiling so I bought some of those table top name card holders they use at weddings and made postcard-sized bird pics to name the table groups.

Mine was Superhero stuff. But next year I won't have a class, just a small corner of a shared office. So I'm not sure if I'll still put stuff in my area or not.

My theme this year was fourth grade. I feel like I kept the theme going throughout the year.

This will be my first year teaching and I have decided on a color scheme rather than a theme: brights and burlap :)

If someone suggested I should have a theme, it would make me want one even less.

I've been at a school where we were told what our theme had to be but of course did not provide any money to make it happen. I wasn't thrilled at that. I detest being told how to spend my salary on things I didn't want to buy.

    I did the minimum. Grudgingly.

I worked at a school where the principal announced we had a sports theme. I begrudgingly put up a couple sports ball pictures. Same thing!

Not generally. I usually had a slogan or something for the beginning of the year bb, but I never carried throughout all the decor and stuff in the room.

I taught for 22 years at one school and no one ever had a theme. Outside bb's had a welcoming message and then changed to display student produced work.i have heard that in some schools teachers spend so much time and money on themes due to "Competition" among the teachers.

I always taught using a monthly theme, but that usually connected to my science or social studies units. The decor did not ever reflect a theme, though. I went for clean and organized.

My room is going to be owls but I'm seriously considering Harry Potter. The only thing that sucks about that is having to make everything.

I don't have a specific theme, but I am using a color scheme of light blue, gray, and coral. I've thought about adding in a few anchors and lake quotes because that is one of my favorite places, and in our town, going to the lake is one of the things many of our students do for fun. The only place I have a theme is my bulletin board; I change it out to reflect the holidays.

Teachertimes, a Harry Potter theme sounds awesome!

I use a black background with lots of color. I don't really have a theme...just cheerful and happy. I also LOVE Schoolgirl Style. She has great ideas!

Harry Potter, I'm the Hufflepuff House. My colors are yellow and black, and it's pretty simple to find things in those colors. I throw some purple in just because that's my favorite color and I have to have it somewhere!

I like that! I've considered doing a house competition similar to the Harry Potter houses before, where students earn or lose points for their house for various activities. (It wouldn't be a theme.)
