Chicago Public Schools/CTU has said it is likely everyone will be back in school Monday. In an effort to "get back to normal" for families, many schools have just pushed everything from this week to next week, including open house. Open house schedules are on a school by school basis decided by the principal. However, we are not paid for it. Because of this, many principals make open house during the day where families can come observe class and interact for one period at the end of school. Our principal has decided that open house will be in the evening next week. Some staff members feel this is wrong and that we should decide not to go as a group. It is more "mandated" work time outside of contract hours that we are unpaid for...exactly one of the issues we have been striking over for a week. I'm curious, what are you thoughts? We have to decide as a group what we're going to do.
