My dad always used to get 200.00.
    A friend gets 150.00. .
    Another friend gets 250.00
    (None work in education)
The highest bonus I ever got was 20.00...if you can count that as it was from our PTA!

    My husband's company gives bonuses.

My school used to give all employees a ham. That got cut from the budget last year.

I wish! It would come in sooooo handy this year. I think after I pay bills that I will have all of $40 for buying Christmas presents.

My principal used to give everyone a bottle of wine for Christmas. Last year we got a tin of cookies.

    Not really.
We get some money from Prop 202 (can't remember what it's for...I think it's the Indian Reservations using some of their money to give to the teachers) and we get it in the last paycheck of the year so I look at it as a "bonus". It's around $300.

Our district employees always get either a free turkey or ham (your choice), and this year, all teachers are receiving a $200 bonus on our December checks.

We get $500, but it's just part of our salary that they take out and give us at once at Christmas. It's still nice to have a little extra when it's needed.

In some local districts, the teachers got Christmas "bonuses" of $7,000 and $3,500. They are funded by natural gas drilling. In one of those districts, teachers got $25,000 in bonuses last year. Starting salary there is $30,000 dollars.

We're totally tuition dependant. Our budget is based on the number of kids we have and the tuition each pays. We get no money from the state or the diocese.

Nope, no Christmas bonus. But that's OK, I'm thrilled to be where I am!

We'll get a card and maybe a token gift--a nice pen, desk calendar, etc. Sometime this week there will be breakfast in the staff room provided by the administrators and we will all be chased out of the building right after the students leave on Friday afternoon.

I am really surprised at the teachers receiving bonuses. I guess I have never worked in one of those districts.

I work at a private school and a few times a year we get bonuses. Sometimes they come around Christmas time but since we just got one a few months ago I don't think we'll get another one until the end of Winter.

I think it cost $15 to go to our staff Christmas party. I didn't go.

I also work at a Catholic school, so I am in the same boat. The bottle of wine/tin of cookies is from the principal and his wife.

We will be chased out of the building to go eat lunch with the Church Staff, paid for by our Priest.

We had a lovely sit-down breakfast at our Tuesday inservice meeting and received a little goodie bag (one was a mug warmer that plugs into my laptop). If we get any kind of bonus, it's usually tied to our spring state test scores.

I've never heard of teachers getting any sort of holiday bonus before. We have to use fundraisers to buy copy paper and other supplies to teach. The principal will probably get us a card and some candy, but it will most likely be out of her own pocket. Bonus - no. More work for less pay - unfortunately, yes.

I'm glad to hear that bonuses of some sort happen somewhere. It gives me some hope. Thanks for sharing.

We received a $25 gift card to Walmart this year. Our principal and AP usually go in together to get the teachers something.

Our department chair has traditionally bought a gift for each member of the department. (Out of his own pocket.)

When I was chair, it was easily $200, and the size of our department has almost doubled since then.

So this year, we made a deal with him: we love him, he loves us. But we aren't going to exchange gifts.

His 3 kids can use the $400 or so a whole lot more than we can.

We don't get Christmas bonuses, but the principal last year bought all the teachers a large Igloo cooler. The year before that it was one of those folding camp chairs. We have a new principal this year, so I don't think it will happen again. We usually have a few parents that bring in platters of holiday cookies for the lounge and that is always nice.
I have never been in a district where the school actually gave a Christmas bonus.

No bonus here. My husband receives one based upon how well the company does throughout the year. His first bonus was over $8,000, but it's been downhill since then with this economy...still a nice little chunk, though. I never anticipated a bonus, so it's not an issue. Would be nice, of course, but it's all good. :)

Different kind of gas. And the money comes from tax revenue in the parish. Years and years ago, before the natural gas was discovered, teachers got a bonus that was tied to x percent of sales tax or property tax or something. They never anticipated that the revenue would go up by that much! As recently as four years ago, the bonus was $1,000 before taxes and retirement were taken out. It was a nice supplement considering how far below average the salary scale is there.

Nope. I have to say, I don't expect money or a gift, but a card would go a long way in making the rest of the year a bit more bearable.

I'm usually ok with my admin, and one is pretty caring, but overall, my school drops the ball when it comes to teacher appreciation.

Nope, no bonus here. When I taught in the private sector I would receive a little something. DH used to receive a bonus, but with the economy that disappeared. He also used to get a turkey or ham, but I am not sure about that happening this year. That's ok, we are both happy to be employed!
