Jaime, I only have two children, 20 and almost 24. They live home and one boyfriend lives here, too. (My husband is rolling in his grave over that, I'm sure.) The almost-24 year-old may never be equipped to live alone, I'm afraid. The younger one, thankfully, has matured a great deal and is now a pleasure to live with.

There are times when I wish I could live alone, which sounds really cruel to say, but is true. They still don't always understand how their lapses in responsibility affect others .... but that is part of continuing to grow into adults.

I think my mom said that about me. But here I am 31 and finally living by myself. I did live with a fiance for two yrs 3500 miles away. But that didn't work and went back to living with mom, than bf and his parents. 31 and on my own and I haven't starved to death yet! :D
I do find it rather boring and miss bf's mom a lot.

Hi EVeryone! I slept till 10:30. No children here, just us and the cats. However, we're headed to the grandsons house soon. Can't stand not seeing him. It's snowing here!

I saw a documentary on it once. It's cold and wet and apparently NY used to get some.

Alice, did you have palm trees up? Someone in my neck o the woods did to, and I kept feeling like I was in Florida. It just didn't go well with the Santa sitting out there.

Snow is that cold stuff that we didn't get until recently. I hate and I would love to send it to you.
I thought NY was supposed to get so much snow they couldn't get out the front door?! Oh I would love that. SNowed in, tv and hot chocolate. What ever happened to the good old days? My mom would be waiting with fresh cookies from the oven when they closed school and we had to trudge home in snowdrifts. I miss that.
Now it's not so much fun. I have to back out of my driveway at 100mph so the Tracker doesn't get stuck in the 10 ft. drift left by the snowplow(right after we shovel it out.) Then I have to drive 35mph down a busy HWY. to work and by the time I get there, the cars heading to the high school are zooming past, filled with teenagers with greased hair and tacos hanging out of their mouths as they try to make the stop light, as I dodge flying slush to cross the road to my place of employment, holding onto my big bag of extra shoes and papers and my purse, then the walk through the broken up concrete of the driveway, filled with parents vehicles , left with their engines running so the exhaust flies into my wide open mouth as I walk behind them(actually I close my mouth tight and hold my breath so as not to breath in the fumes.) Then it's onto the icy steps that the maintainance guy never takes care of and through two heavy doors that get slammed into my back and there I stand in front of the almighty computer, ready to check in and hit the stairs for the long climb to my classroom. Oh, I LOVE winter and it shows.

    Hi Ladies,

Kinderkids, I am glad to have company, as far as our age.

I am not married. Can I be a part of this group still? I just recently turned 40. I am currently in a long relationship of 12 years. I am working on getting my partner to marry me but I think he has gotten comfortable with the way we are. I am not, I keep thinking things will change. Am I missing anything by not being married I wonder.

I have 4 friends, very very good friends and I am older than they are. I enjoy their company a whole lot. They were married and are divorced. They are teachers also. One teaches in middle school and the others teaches elementary school.

Grammy Teacher my favorite food are bread and rice. Talk about carbs.:)

I am glad to be invited by you. I hope Grammy Teacher don't mind.

I was wondering what part of New York are you in. I am in Brooklyn. I am in my bed. I was supposed to do laundry but I decided that I am out of the house at 6:00am every morning (Monday thru Friday), and today I am going to stay in the bed. I just love to be a part of this forum. It is good to hear from other teachers especially from all over.:thanks:

MissFrizzle, I hate the snow. When I tell my kindergarteners that I don't want it to snow they would look at me as if something is wrong with me. I then explain to them that I don't like shovelling in front of my house. They think I am silly.:)

Next Friday night I'm going to the Milrose Games at Madison Square Garden though.

Milrose is NY's premier track and field event. There is a huge variety of races and competitors, from HS to Olympic athletes. Both my school and my husband's have qualified teams for one of the relays (my school's with a record setting time.)

Anyway, Peter's school always qualifies, and he brings his camera and shoots the race. The brother in charge of publications always very kindly includes me. We do a NICE dinner in the city, then hit MSG for the race. It's one of the few times each year I actually make it into Manhattan, and I look forward to it a lot.
