Is anyone into name-brand purses??
I really like Dooneys.
I'm off leather purses since my surgery, since it's too heavy.
At the moment I'm using a cheap Vera Bradley knockoff
I have 3 Coach purses and one very small Louis Vuitton. I also have 2 Coach Wallets. These were all gifts, because even though I like name brand purses if I bought many of them I would have no money to put in them! :haha:
I have no idea who made my purse. It is from 1967. My father bought it for my mom and she gave it to me when I was four. And I have never bought a purse since haha.
My sister is into coach.
I have two Timbuk2 messenger bags (a large and a medium) and one Greg Lemond Messenger bag. I also have numerous trunk bags and a set of Avenir panniers.
BTW, my wife calls my bike my "rolling purse" and says I have some kind of bag obsession. Good thing I'm not a woman - I'd be the Imelda Marcos of purses.
You're very lucky to have friends who are able to give you such nice gifts.
I like Vera Bradley because they're lightweight, but I also have a couple of Coach bags that were "gift-me-downs" from my best friend, who has about 30 of them.
I love my Coach purse and wallet. I'll probably carry it for a long time.
I just got a Coach wallet and purse for Christmas...first one
I have two Coach purses and wallets in black and brown. Probably won't get another one for a while.
Yeah I really am. One of my Coach bags is from my current BF, one is from my sis and the rest of it is from my jerk EX who I was with for 8 years and really...I should have gotten way more out of that relationship! Haha, but I will take the bags over him any day!
I have about 8 or 10 Coach bags. I think I'm addicted...
I am really bored right now; and decided to look at the purses on EBay; holy cow!!! There are TONS of them.
I admit...I just bid on a $10 used Dooney! LOL
i like coach...the few I have were gifts. I also have a dooney that was gifted to me.
They are expensive, but do last forever.
Anything I have bought are cheaper brands!!

I like bags a lot, but I'm not obsessed or anything. I'll only spend so much, unless, I want to treat myself for some unique occasion.
I like a couple of Coach styles
I have some fake prada bags. I really hate purses though, and carry them out of necessity. Whenever possible I just shove things in my pockets. But that only works if I won't be gone too long.
I have a real coach bag that I never use. It's sort of a brief case and I bought it when I was going on job interviews in college, but I got it at the coach outlet. I NEVER use it!
I LOVE designer purses. I admit it- I am a purse snob. I will buy my shoes cheap but purses I will save my money for something nice. I mostly carry Coach. I would love to have a big Gucci bag but I don't know if I even saved up enough money, if I could pay over a thousand dollars for a bag. But if someone gave it to me I wouldn't refuse!
I don't know why women loves purses so much. I girlfriend have a few Chanel, Gucci, and LV; and she keeps looking at purses every time we go to the mall. It's like $2,000 for a bag to that just hold your belongings. We go and buy so much that people from Chanel know us by a first name basis. Why can't she buy it at target or something. Me for example, I buy my wallet at Ross, they are like $30 for a good one. And they last me for like 2-3 years at least! Must be a girl thing.
Okay, for some reason I have never been into purses with writing on them. The c's of Coach or the LV's of Vitton. I did; however, buy an exact replica of an LV off some guy in a van years ago.
I don't usually buy a name brand fancy purse any better than a Nine West or a Liz Claiborne. Usually I find things at a store called Sam Moon (also has online store) they have tons of purses.
Over the holidays I got my first Dooney and Burke. I used part of my gift card I got from my students, money from something I returned and my own money. I think I spent only $47 'out of pocket' and it was over $200. I felt guilty buying it. Then I went to Kohls and got another purse for $5.20 off the clearance table.
All my teacher friends have Coach purses. Most are the patchwork type. How long do they last?
sell it on ebay.
Lemon...I LOVE Dooneys! What kind did you get?????
MissFroggy; I'm not into Coach bags, but what does it look like? Why don't you sell it on Ebay or something??
Me too, Kat!
i just got a (fake) burberry and I LOVE IT-- cant get the real one yet but I love the fake one
Does anyone belong to a PURSE Forum???
I just joined one yesterday and I LOVE it already!
I like Nine West, Harvey's, and Coach. But I buy a bag because I like it... not because of the brand name.
I got a black leather Coach wristlet and Coach mini skinny for Christmas.
This is the purse I'm carrying now. It's made out of seatbelts.
cMcD...that puse is gorgeous!!!! Where did you get it??? What kind is it??? You can tell, I don't know my purses. LOL
That purse is a Harvey's. I saw their bags a few years ago for the first time and I really like them too. Not as many people have those (at least around here) as they do Coach's or D&B's. http://www.seatbeltbags.com/
ahhhhh...Never heard of Harvey's, but boy, they sure are cute! And priced nicely!
What stores carry them?
Thanks for the link, 'Lizbeth!
I loove seatbelt bags. I bought my first one during the summer (it was pink and brown.) I also have a few coaches and a dooney and bourke. Most of them have been gifts.
This is the purse I'm carrying right now:
I get them because I like fun handbags...not really because of the brandnames..I have a ton of interesting bags and I don't know the brand
I swear, they last forever! I won't even venture a guess at how many purses I have or donated. LV won't wear out -- if the zipper breaks, they will replace it, change handles, etc. Coach is the same way.
My dh says NOTHING about my purse/shoes/clothing obsession, but then I say NOTHING about his golf club obsession. At least I can wear/carry my clothes/shoes/purses. How can one spend $700 on a putter? That's my question. It must be a guy thing.
I think that a lot of men secretly envy women for the acceptability they have in carrying purses.
I cannot tell you of the discomfort of having to stuff everything into one's pockets. I've actually heard that many mens' back problems can be traced to going around with a big fat wallet jammed into their back pocket.
I've tried fanny packs, but if you wear them so that they don't fall down around your waist (which few men actually have) then they are generally too snug to access the contents.
I've also taken some small bags - like camera bags - and attached them to my belt loops with carabiners. That works pretty well since most men's pants have belt loops.
I'm still looking for a small leather or canvas bag with the right attachments that a guy could hook it onto his belt comfortably and also quickly release it (in case he need to crawl through a small place like an airplane hatch or small window) but would not spill the contents in case he were to suddenly find himself upside down or subjected to negative G-forces.
It's a Harvey's. Almost all of their purses are made from real seatbelt material. I got my first one in 2004, a large pink tote. I'd been looking all over for a houndstooth print purse and I found this one. I got it this summer. It's been sitting in my closet until a couple weeks ago when I broke it out. The only problem is that when I wear my Tommy Hilfiger houndstooth coat I have to change purses. :haha:
Many boutiques carry them. I got my houndstooth one from zappos.com. They have a Harvey's section.
I like them because not many people have them, and it's a great conversation starter to say that they're made out of seatbelts. I will warn you... they are kind of heavy.
I'm surprised no one mentioned about Bag Borrow or Steal, the website where you can "rent" a designer bag for a certain period of time. I personally would never do it though.
BTW, I have 4 Seatbeltbags. I love the range of colors to choose from & they're very durable!
I've seen them in Nordstrom, but not lately. Check & see if there's a Seatbelt bag store near you. Also, you can always order from their site where you'll be able to view the entire collection. I got all mine online from the official site.
I just got a new Nine West one at Kohl's right after Christmas for $10, was $50. It holds everything under the sun. It is a pale gold metallic color.
Don't care for name brand purses!
It's not a good enough reason for me to want one.
I buy my purses according to what I like & it has to be BLACK.
My daughter in-law lives for name brands.
She's got that Gucci thingy going on.
Can you sum up a woman by the purse she carries?
Got it or Wannabe?
Well! I know it's just like sunglasses, SO to each her own.
