Do you check your email over summer vacation?

Just wondering. I try not to but I broke my own rule this morning and I had an email from my AP looking for something emailed to her.

So what do you do? And if you do check it do you respond if there is an email?
 
I know that my P would only email me over the summer if it was really, really important. I do check my email every day and reply if it's important.

I check mine a few times a week. Mostly I just have spam to clear out, but I have on occasion been 'the early bird' to hop on an opportunity that arises. Our union also has a folder in our email so it's a good way to keep up on state legislation, etc. my admin generally doesn't email staff wanting something in the summer...they respect our time off. If there s something pressing, the office has a list of summer phone numbers that teachers leave for such purposes before checking out for the summer.
 
Only when it is getting close to time to go back. Other than that, there really is no reason to. Unless I hear of something that we should be expecting.
 
Mine comes to my iPod, so it's easy to check. I've only gotten one school-related email. We didn't have webmail access until a couple of years ago, so I never checked over the summer.
 
I check once or twice a week mainly because I let my band parents & students know that I can answer questions over the summer via email. I like for them to know they can always reach me with questions or concerns. :D
 
Mine comes to my cell phone with my regular e-mail, so I check it daily. My P rarely e-mails, and only with informational type stuff, not with anything we would need to respond to. If they did need something, I would respond as best I could.
 
On our checkout form, we indicate whether we'll check school email or want to be contacted at another address. I check mine daily. I still don't know my schedule for the fall.
 
I did a few times the first couple weeks of my vacation (1st two weeks in June) & it's a good thing I did because there was something I had to do, but that was it. In another couple of weeks here, it will be time to start checking it again. :mad:
 
My email comes to my phone, so it will notify me if I get an email. I will respond to any email I get over the summer. We go back next week (kids come in 2 weeks) so I am starting to get quite a few emails.
 
My work email goes to my phone. I do not get a whole lot during the summer. However, I am grade chair and my principal will email me once in a while during the summer if things come up.

Also, I was Co-President of my Union for 5 years, so I would check to see if things would come up. I would get emails from the Superintendent when issues would come up during the summer.

So I do check it everyday. However, I do not always respond the same day...
 
Our union will use email for business, our direct deposit notifications are emailed, and any job postings are emailed, so yes I check mine regularly.
 
I also check it pretty much daily-it's habit. I received a few e-mails from parents asking for another copy of supply lists or the recommended summer reading--to me it's worth it to reply.
 
Every day, more than once.
I get emails from colleagues as we plan over the summer, updates from our admin.
 
I check mine daily. I run the website and am the technology point of contact for parents and staff. Thankfully, I don't get important e-mails every day, but I do check.
 
I am checking mine daily now that our admin is back on campus and might be sending out important emails. I am the team lead so there are emails specific to that position coming out, too.
 
If it wasn't on my phone, then I doubt I would check more than once a week.

It's amazing how things have changed. I didn't even have a computer of my own or one in a classroom until my sixth year of teaching. I didn't have a school email account until my eighth year.

I know what you're thinking. Yes, I'm ancient. I'm 41 and this will be my twentieth year.
