Do any of you guys know if using tempera paint on your face/body is safe??

I have some extra tempera paint from when I taught kinder. I was wondering if it would be safe to use it to paint my face for our city zombie march. I know I use to use a little of it to paint my kids cheeks or nose for celebrations or performance days. But, that was just a little amount. Oh, and all of the kinder teachers did this so I never thought twice about it until my husband mentioned if that was safe.

I'd answer your question, but I'm still trying to wrap my head around the idea of a city government that sponsors a zombie march.

Hahaha, the city's not really sponsoring it. It's just a group of people who started this up. Donations made go to the Valley Children's Hospital.

Hmmm, never mind. I asked you guys, as teachers, if you have used it before, but I decided to do some in-depth researched and decided that I shouldn't use it anymore as face paint. I'll be sure to relay that onto the other teachers, as well. I don't know why I never really questioned this before.

Plus, it gets flaky when it dries.

One of the things I remember as a kid was that it didn't taste very good.
