Do all teachers get paid once a month?

Being paid bi-weekly doesn't affect your salary over the entire year, but it does affect the amount of money one receives in a specific month -- and it is less for 10 months of the year. In two months (I think) 3 paychecks are received. Since most bills are reoccurring on a monthly basis, it takes saving from the two "extra" paychecks to cover the bills of the other months.

 

20 paychecks bi-weekly...nothing for the summer
or
12 month salary divided into 26 paychecks...however #21 is the full amount for #21-#26 for the summer.

 

I think it may affect the amount in taxes taken out.

 

My last district was twice monthly (24 weeks), my new district is every other week (26 weeks)

 

I didn't want to start a new thread but this charter school I am getting ready to start with on Tuesday pays bi-monthly. I've never heard of a school or any business paying out on a bi-monthly basis. I haven't signed the contract yet but I don't know if I can agree to those terms. I don't have enough money to get through the next 2 months. Maybe they mean twice monthly? On the agreement it said semi-monthly.

 

I would call for a clarification.

I'm guessing that someone simply messed up and doesn't know the difference between "bi-monthly" and "semi-monthly."

 

The prefix "bi" is a confusing one. "Bi-monthly" can mean either every other month or twice per month. The same is true for "bi-weekly". Although when it comes to paychecks most people assume that it means every other week, it could and does mean twice per week. It depends on the context.

Ask for clarification. I'm reasonably certain that you'll get paid every two weeks.

 

We're paid every other Friday. Also, in the summer, we have the option of getting a lump sum of our entire summer pay. (It amounts to five checks in one.) I always do that and just budget my money throughout the summer.

 

Our state law says we have to work "x" days before we can be paid...that means we just got our first check of the school year Friday. We started Aug. 10th. In my last district I was paid on the 15th and the last day of the month. It did make a difference in pay. It changed my tax bracket. I don't understand how, but it did. I made about $50 more a paid period.

In my district teachers are paid once a month. Sometimes I really wish it was twice a month. My first year, I got hired in August but didn't get paid until September. I am thankful however our salary is spread out over 12 months so we get paid in the summer.

 

Here in NC we're paid once a month, with a 10 month or 12 month option.

But apparently, the Dept of Education deemed teachers were getting prepaid for days not worked in August, so they're messing around with our pay schedule for the upcoming year.

I don't understand, and neither does anyone else I know. We were asked to vote on a solution, but then the vote was thrown out. I saw that one coming, which was why I never voted

 

I'm thinking we don't get paid for the summer as we are automatically signed up for summer so we are technically still working and then we get a short break. We do, however, get 2 weeks for Spring Break.

 

We get paid every other week.

 

Quite a few old threads being brought back today. In the states every district I ever worked for paid monthly. I remember that being very tough. Here, they pay bi-monthly, which I like so much better.

 

It will vary according to your district or state. We are paid every two weeks - the two months we get three paychecks is really nice.

 

My district pays us on the 15th and 30th of each month (or last day in the case of Feb.). I've also worked in a district that payed every other week.

 

We get paid on the 6th and 21st of each month.

 

Paid monthly - year round. But with the budget in the trouble it is here, may get imaginary pay monthly!
