I'm teaching direct instruction for the first time on Monday. I haven't had official training, just a few hours and I've been watching a video. What are your thoughts about this program for kindergarten Reading? This is my third year to teach, but I have been trained in ELLA. I'm a little nervouse about it. My kids are so immature and I'm not sure they'll be able to handle the structure of the program at this point.

I guess no one knows much about this subject from the sounds of it. I looked it up on the net and I am wondering, is this the "old-fashioned" way of teaching reading?
