Hi !!

Generally, which topics in Maths do children in the
age group 4 to 8 find very difficult to learn ?

Lately we have been practicing looking at data and turning it into a graph to show totals. The students have been struggling with this. They can look at a graph, read it, and understand it, but they have difficulty creating a graph when just given the data not already set-up on the graph.

One to one correspondance is difficult in the early side of that age group.

Numeracy in general is very hard for some... I hear that some are in middle school and still counting on their fingers...

In my experience, subtraction is the hardest skill in first grade. It throws many of them for a loop. Of course, when you mix addition & subtraction together, that's a real winner! LOL

Pilla...are you an elementary teacher or is there another reason you are curious about math struggles?

My first graders struggle with "how many more" and "how many fewer" questions when comparing numbers.
