    Just did....

I can't imagine... that her body is even able to hold anything in.

    (sorry for the imagery.)

But I had to smirk when she said it was a surprise.

    Really???

Blue Lagoon was a surprise.... the Duggars aren't a surprise.

It's one of those things that used to be a surprise, a holy crap, but now it's like...eh, another one? More power to 'em, I guess!

The article I read, Michelle mentioned attending Weight Watchers with Jim Bob, which was surprising.

My DBF refers to her as a clown car.

Really though, I feel like I wouldn't even be able to get pregnant 20 times in my life if I wanted to and really tried. That is one fertile woman...

They adhere to a Christian movement called Quiverfull, whose members take seriously the biblical exhortation to be fruitful and multiply and believe that every child is a gift from Providence.

All the children are home-schooled and all learn to play the violin and piano. The older children help raise the younger ones under a buddy system. Jim Bob, a former state legislator, is involved in a number of businesses, including commercial real estate.

    According to the Today show....

I think it's funny they use a "buddy system" to raise kids aren't the other's kids themselves?!?

    Ok to each their own.

I think when your kids are having kids (therefore making you a grandmother) you should probably start to consider maybe not having any more children? What if she doesn't go through menopause for another 10 years or so? Is she really going to keep popping kids out every couple years? I think they're VERY fortunate that they have not yet had a child with special needs, particularly since she is in her 40s and at higher risk for Down's syndrome.

Her last baby was born in December 2008. This baby is due in the Spring of 2010. If you look at the wiki.. I can't imagine having a child almost every year since 1988!

but if they are well cared for etc...then cool. but WOW!

Normally a woman is high risk after like 5 or 6 kids I could only imagine that she is off the charts now! I found it disgusting that they use a "buddy system." What happened to being the PARENT of the children you give birth to? If it's too many, stop having them. Abstinence works well if you don't believe in other types of birth control.

I have a hard time not being jealous of women like this. I have a hard enough time being happy for my friends starting their small families, but knowing my chances of having kids is very very slim, it is hard to take when women are able to have children so easily.

If they're happy and they can afford them (which they can!); then I have no problem with it; it's their life.

I still wish they had named their kids alphabetically...just imagine, this baby's first name would begin with letter "S". :D

I find it impossibly frustrating that we would like to have just one more child, and can't. She looks at ol' Jim Bob sideways and poof.

Good grief - even cows can't have that many offspring in a lifetime before they are sent to the meat factory because they are so broken down (no teeth, bad bones, etc); it's cruel to keep them alive.

She should be happy with the kids she has and be thankful that none of them are disabled.

Unfortunately...at her age (and if she continues) the odds are against it.

I wonder what will happen when that occurs-yet she still hasn't gone through menopause. Will they keep going?

    ***

having a husband (ex now) who is a peditrician...you come across some couples SO desparate for more and more children, that even being VERY sick that doesn't stop them. One family has 5. The first was fine, the second a premie-but then fine, the third was the sickest child he had ever seen. Stop them? No Way! The fourth has MAJOR physical and mental problems...and the fifth is in bad shape.

As a family - they are happy, but broke. And the children-of course are sweet- but you have to wonder about the quality of life.

I cooled down the friendship at the announcement of the 4th and stopped shortly after the 5th. I couldn't take it! Plus...there was a bit of munchausen by proxy (a disorder in which a person deliberately causes injury or illness to another person, usually to gain attention or some other benefit) going on ..which TOTALLY disgusts me!
