We were treated to a Christmas luncheon at the school...bring a side dish; main meat provided, no monetary Christmas bonus this year. no problem. At least, I've got my health, family, a job and the Lord above all. But, I was wondering... Did you receive a Christmas Bonus?
Yea, right? We did get to leave this a.m. at 10:00 and they called it a whole day, that was really a gift in itself, not much but at least we didn't have to stay until 3:30.
We did have a huge Christmas party on Wednesday. I was unable to attend, but everyone said it was wonderful as usual. It was at a local catering hall: cocktail hour, full dinner, open bar... But we don't do bonuses, particularly in this economy.
My favorite was the year I was a SAHM and did freelance work. The company I worked for sent me a FAX machine, a copy of Microsoft Office, a copy of Mathtype, and a $200 Christmas bonus!!! And that was for freelance writing!!
One year, about four years ago I got $50. I, of course, spent them on my class. Never again. Not even a card from my P or a thank you! HMPH!
umm we got a luncheon we had to pay $20 to attend..and if you decided NOT to attend the office staff got mad at you....
The last two years we got a card and a gift certificate from the P and VP--this year NOTHING! We took a collection up for them, though! I gave, but not in the hopes of receiving something--although it would have been nice.
We had to pay $7.00 for our luncheon (and it irked me because the place had no vegetarian option so I paid that money for chips and a soda). They gave us a tote bag and a mug full of really tacky candy huh. All of us on the grade level put in $15.00 to get gifts for all our administrators so I really think I came out about even.
yeah right....we have our holiday party (which we have to pay for) and that is about it.... I know it is a big staff but I would be happy with a card or a "no recess" duty day!! It is the little things!!
We got a bonus, smallest one ever, but it was over $100.00. We also got these snowman things that are quite large and decorative.
We get nuttin', unless you count the day off on Tuesday, which I guess is pretty good. We have a pot luck on Monday. My husband however, who started a new job at the same company, gets nearly $3,000 after the first of the year. I know, I almost feel guilty. Just goes to show how "appreciated" public employees are compared to private...
I don't know why I found that really funny...I guess, because I would choose not to attend (on purpose?) LOL
Yes...however my team didn't want to get the "evil eye" so we went.. they were out of "normal" food when we got there (it was a buffet,) I basically paid 20 bucks for a bottle of water and a piece of cold, gross chicken OH! and I forgot..it if you didn't go you had to sit in the office and "man the phones" in case anyone called..you couldn't even work in your classroom. (It's during teacher planning time)
We got a $100 WalMart gift card. My hubby works in insurance so Christmas is only one of 4 bonuses he gets a year. He came home with a $7500 check today which I guess puts my $100 WalMart card to shame but it is the 1st present from an administrator that I have received in 10 years of teaching,
Our P gives us a gift every year which is getting tackier and tackier each year. This year we got a really cheap bag and a plastic cup with ten pieces of candy. However, for the first time we got a bonus from our district $1000.00 YYYYYYYEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!
We got a $15 gift certificate for the grocery market. Much appreicated! Every year before we've been given a ham.
We got a bonus one year. They gave us turkeys. A co-worker cooked his and he and his wife got violently ill from food poisoning. I threw mine out.
:lol::lol: We got turkeys last year as well. I accidently left mine in the fridge all winter break at school - guess I'm glad I didn't get to eat it. No bonus this year, but we did have a really nice holiday party at a restaurant in a private room with a four course meal, live music, a nd a full bar. Paid for by the school.
This year the PTO gave us a $20 gift card to Wal-Mart (not bad as large as our school staff is, the only other time they gave us something it was $25 and we didn't have but about a little over 1/2 the staff we do now.) The principal and the aps got us a really cool clock (shaped like a triangle with a place for pictures on two sides and the clock with our school name and school year dates on the 3rd side. They also gave us the week before the break and the week after the break (9 days total) where we don't have to turn in lesson plans or differentiation sheets. That's the best present
Ummm. . . yes. . . but I'm in a different industry, and it's the worst I've received in the past ten years. $10k
