Dh's ad agency won the Chipotle account, and he was recently briefly filmed for their new campaign. He's the one dressed in the preppy blue sweater, having the picnic. The funny thing is that we have picnics in that area all the time, although we don't drape sweaters over our shoulders. ;)

Man, all I want is a Chipoltle burrito right now... I can taste that lime rice...

The large guy in the beginning is Scott, and he's hilarious-he makes Luther burgers each summer, which includes two hamburger patties on krispie cream donuts instead of buns. The guy doing a push-up while eating it is ND, and he's also hilarious-he's their photographer and proofreader. Apparently the 'spokesperson' is the agency accountant.

Chipotle had the BEST bowl combinations in CA! I haven't gone to one yet out here. I have to find one this weekend.

I LOVE Chipoltes. That was the FIRST meal my husband bought me after my surgery this past week! My tongue was numb on the right side (the doctor has to go right next to the facial nerve so that's one of the side effects a lot of people have, or a metallic taste). That didn't stop me. I was in love with their veggie bowl. My tongue has been numb (or tingly) since but I have LOVED food this week. I just finished eating a slice of cheesecake!

Chipoltes is a little out of the way and not exactly convenient but at least we have one. My hubby loved me enough to go get it for me.

Only one complaint...no captions...sorry had to say it. I'm trying to spread the word a little. :) Ya love me anyways right?

Great suggestions, cNg!! I'm going to pass that on to them. They should be aware of that!

Dh is, in my loving tone, a snob, so I thought it was hilarious that they cast him as the preppy boy. He's in another short for them-same outfit-taking a huge bite and giving a thumbs up sign while leaning on a yacht (courtesy of some boatyard around here). We're going to do the 48 film project with his agency in a few weeks, so I'll post a link to that when it's done, too.

Chipotle is my favorite as well. After watching this a million times, I couldn't stop thinking and drooling over their lime rice. So I tried to re-create it here. I stuffed myself and now I'm so sick of lime rice I could puke...

It won't be on TV, just on the internet. The campaign focuses on people making their own videos of 'their' Chipotle burrito recipe and submitting it, kind of like YouTube for burritos. So they make a bunch of examples to start the whole thing off. So I think technically you all could make your own videos and put them up there as well!

There's one about a mile away, but I've never tried it.

How do they compare to the other Mexican places? We're big Moes' fans.

I would say it's very American mexican, Alice. It's awesome if all you want is a huge over-stuffed great tasting burrito. But it's more gourmet than what we would find if we went down to the Mission in the city. Their rice is a-maz-ing.

I never get the burrito. Why make my mouth open that wide for a bite. I just have it all dumped into a bowl instead. :)

    Funny ad, Jem...

I'm just not a chain restaurant girl...I really don't go to any chains....I prefer locally owned places. There's a great little local 'authentic' Mexican restaurant about 15 minutes away from me...great guacamole, strolling mariachis on the weekends and margaritas that remind me of Riviera Maya. I love discovering places like that. ;)

:) I like them when I'm not pg, too. But I craved them - and would devour them - when pg, even though I had lots of food aversions.

I agree that they are very American. I've only ever gotten the burrito. They are very big. Your choice of meat (beef, chicken, pork), your choice of bean (black, pinto...), lots of the rice. I always get chicken with pinto beans, rice, mild salsa (chunky fresh tomato salsa), cheese, sour cream. I sometimes get a side of their guacamole with tortilla chips.

It's lots of fresh food for a decent price. We have one about 2 miles from us! We used to have to drive all the way across the metro area to get to one.

    Chipotle Copycat Lime Rice recipe:

    Ingredients
1 teaspoon vegetable oil or butter
    2 teaspoons fresh cilantro
    2/3 cup white basmati rice
    1 cup water
    1/2 teaspoon salt
    1 lime
    Directions
1In a 2-quart heavy saucepan, heat oil or butter over low heat, stirring occasionally until melted.
2Add rice and lime juice, stir for 1 minute.
3Add water and salt, bring to a full rolling boil.(Some people have had success with 1 cup of water, but when I've made it with 2 it worked for me).
4At boiling, cover, turn down to simmer over low heat until rice is tender and the water is absorbed, about 25 minutes.
5Add in the cilantro and fluff rice with a fork.

Good recipe, Czacza! I think I did it just about right. And it was soooo good.

My dh likes smaller restaurants as well. I was raised on Applebees, the Outback and TGI Fridays, so I can do anything.

I get a chicken burrito with rice, pinto beans, mild salsa, sour cream, cheese, and guacamole. According to Weight Watchers, my burrito is about 23 points!!! About a whole days worth! I love it, though. The burrito is big enough that it could last you 2 meals but I eat the WHOLE THING!
