A Continental Airlines plane went down right outside of my city late last night. I just can't believe something like that could happen so close to home. I couldn't imagine being in the bed sleeping, and the house next door is hit by a plane. Or my house for that matter, I feel so lucky to be alive right now. The plane could've traveled a few miles another direction and landed right here in the city. Our school had a moment of silence this morning, my whole community is in mourning. :(:(

I'm very sad about the news too. The story reminded me to not take a day for granted as each day is gift from God. God bless everyone.

This isn't the one where the widow of a 9/11 passenger was on the plane?

Yes. The Colgan Air flight 3407 had the widow of a 9/11 victim on board. A gentleman I worked with lost his daughter in last night's tragedy.

Accounts from pilots that worked with the crew describe them as professional, conscientious, and very capable. The NTSB briefing today described the aircraft experiencing severe pitch and roll excursions within seconds of the flaps extended.

This crew fought to recover control to the end.

God bless the crew, passengers, and their families.

This was only two miles from my parents. I know the area and its amazing only one house was hit. Its scary this happened so close to my hometown.

Oh, wow. I'm wondering if they used de-icer to possibly prevent this from happening again. I heard it might have had something to do with ice buildup.

You know, I've been here so long and know many of you well through this site, that each time I hear of a major catastrophe or something on the news I wonder if one of you is involved or lives near or is effected by it.

I live in the Buffalo area too. This news is devastating to WNY. We are very close knit community. My prayers are with those who passed away and also with the rest of us who live on. May there be peace for all.
