HELP! I decided I don't like my back to school bb for my classroom, and now I am truly brain dead! PLEASE share some of your bb ideas with me, especially those who teach 3-6 grade. I need it for a 4th grade classroom. I have no "theme" and would appreciate any ideas!!:thanks:
Here is what I have done the past few years. I make a bunch of "grapes" using purple balloons and lime green curling ribbon. I attach them to the bb with staples (obviously stapeling the lip of the balloon or the ribbon, not the balloon itself! ) Then I freehand some green grape leaves out of bb paper and attach them to the top of the bunch. My caption is "Mrs. _____'s Grape Bunch!" My only word of advice is to NOT put your balloons on the board too soon, otherwise you'll end up with raisins!
One of the teachers at my school from last year is looping with her kids from 3rd to 4th... she made a Twister board for her beginning of the year with "Twisting into another year" or something like that... she made the board up as usual, then made the dots in the 4 colors and put everyone's names on them, I'm assuming she'll scatter them around the board. It looks pretty cute.
Ok, I read someone else's post about their sports themed classroom, and I'm going with that!! I'll do "Welcome to our Team" and use sportsy stuff in the room. The helpers will have jobs titled with sports theme names (thanks to someone else's brilliant ideas!!). SOOOOOO, any other suggestions about a sports theme would be great!
My bulletin board says "Teeing off to a great start" I have a golf course as the background and a flag with my name on it as the hole. The students names are all on golfballs (They had the cheap plastic ones at the dollar store and I hot glued them to the background) I will have the students write about their summer and post them underneath their golfball.
I think I've posted this somewhere, but my niece (17) is doing my board this year. I couldn't come up with an idea, but she did. She's using a dark blue sheet on the board and is "lumping" it on the bottom for waves. There are surf boards for each child with their name on it and tie dye letters to spell out (last I heard) "Hangin' 10 in 5th Grade". In the past I've done "Best Class in the Universe" with black background, astronaut cutouts for the kids, and silver stars (making a few constellations). I've also done "Catching a Great Class" with fish for each child and a child's fishining pole hanging in front (my younger niece's pole".
My bulletin board is a clothesline. The backround is blue and green for sky and grass. I have a big cut out of a woman hanging laundry on the line. Each child is either a pair of pants, a shirt or a sock. My heading is "Miss Sherry's Class Hangs Out Here"
I'm doing a 50's theme. I have records with my student's name on them. The title on my bulletin board says Mrs. Frank's Greatest Hits.
Bulletin boards Make sunglasses or have your students design them and a sun I have a bright bunch. fish - swimming into a great year. stars - shining bright students and more
Ocean theme I haven't finished my bulletin board, so I can't post a picture. We have to have a standards-based board outside, so I could only decorate my door with a back to school theme. Door: "Welcome to First Grade! We're Fin-tastic!" (students will cut out their fish and decorate them. Then, I'll put them on the doors with the students names on them. After I get the photos developed, I will paste their pictures on the fish.) Standards-Based Bulletin Board:I made a brown row boat from science board and put the phrase "Reeling in Good Work." I made paper fishing poles from poster board and bought thick string and plastic bobbers. They fishing poles hang out from the boat and the lines go down to the student's work. I made stuffed crabs and fish from felt to hold onto the student's work. The fabric behind all this is of blue water with crabs, fish, starfish, and octopus Hope this helps
