How common is it for the interviewers to ask for a demo lesson? Is this more for the elementary teaching positions?

I have never been asked for a demo lesson, and didn't even know they were done until reading about them on this forum.

The P at my interview today for a middle school science position said that the top 3 candidates would be called back in to give a FIFTY MINUTE "demo lesson."

I'd call that a CLASS, not a demo!

I have had to teach a demo lesson in every single interview I've ever been on (6-7 interviews over the last 2 years). And I'm the library media specialist! I would think that it would be required for teachers ;)

I'd never heard of Demo Lessons until I heard about them on this board. I've never been asked to do one, and I went on several interviews before I was hired. From what I deduced, it's a ELED/MLED thing.

I have had to do demo lessons 3 times and all 3 times were when I applied for jobs in California. In Texas and Massachusetts I just had an interview. One of the time was a true demo lesson that was just 20 minutes long the other times it was a full on lesson.
