cute idea for writing process

    I was in a 4th grade classroom the other day and the teacher had small clay pots labeled with the writing steps (rough draft, final draft, etc-I think she had 5?) and popscicle sticks with each students name on it to show where they were in the process. I though that was cute and functional!

    i do this with a pocket chart and colored cards that they flip. it works great!

    I made a simple poster with 5 columns for the steps we use in the writing process. The students write their names on post its and move them from column to column as they reach the next step.

    Have any of you done something like this in first grade? I'm doing a lot of modeling but I don't feel my kids are really internalizing the writing process.
