When is your district's cut off date for kindergarten? Ours is September 30th.

I think Indiana has one of the earliest at July 1st . . if DOE hasn't changed the date recently

    September 1st

I wish it was August 1st...My June and July birthdays always seem to do well, but the August ones often struggle.

Ditto on the first part- I'd like an "are they ready" detail from the Pre-K teachers to be considered- a window from like Aug 1- Sept 30- but since we currently can't fund every child for pre-k in "Preschool For All," This might never ever happen.

Florida - I remember when the cut off was the end of January then was moved to Dec. 31st. :eek:hmy: Now it's Sept. 1st. I agree, those with August birthdays really do struggle. Even a month can make a difference!

Here in Ohio the cutoff is October 1st. I'd really love it if they'd push it back to June 1st.

December 2nd in California. They have tried moving it earlier but with no luck. With so many people holding kids back it means you have 4-6 year olds in kindergarten.

In my district it is December 31st... Last year half my class was four years old! Some parents choose to hold those young ones back a year, so I had kids in my class that were more than a year apart. I have to say, though, some of my youngest students were also the most successful!

    Iowa is September 15th.

Those December cutoffs are crazy!!! I couldn't imagine!

I think there should be a universal cutoff for all states!

Ours is October 1st. I always seem to get 1 or 2 with September birthdays. They usually struggle.

December 2nd here! And since we start in the beginning of August, I have a lot of 4 year olds for 4 months! It's hard for them with such a rigid academic curriculum!
