I am a K-5 teacher currently teaching pre-k at a small for profit center in NJ because I cannot find an elementary teaching job. I am just curious as to who is early childhood certified and who is otherwise certified. Don't get me wrong - I love my job & I would do it for as long as I could if it offered benefits/a decent salary; unfortunately, this is not the case. :crosseyed

I'm EC-4th grade certified, but I don't think I'd ever use my EC because that age level just isn't for me. I have added on middle school and high school certifications because that's where I found I most enjoyed.

My minor and endorsement is ECE. I only want to teach the lower grades. With this, I am certified ages 0-8yrs however my Elem. Ed. degree certifies me K-8th grade.

I have a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential which certifies you to teach P-6 (multiple subjects) and 7-12 in your college major subject or any subject you can pass the CSET (Praxis) testing. I had always thought I would teach either Middle School social studies or 1-2 Grade. That would be my preference. But like you, I couldn't find a job for the last year. I finally found a job at a preschool, which I am very happy about. But it is very different teaching in the preschool environment. I kept overplanning, expecting to get many things accomplished only to find out that you can't move through curriculum very quickly.

I'm EC... in IL, that allows you to teach birth-3rd grade. Although I enjoyed my student teaching in 2nd, I'm much happier in PreK than I would be in older grades. :)

I am K-6 certified in Elementary Education. National Board Certified in Literacy ages 7-12. I thank God there are teachers who love teaching below 2nd grade as I know I would have a nervous breakdown! I hope to move up from 2nd next year as their neediness and immaturity is starting to get to me. Maybe even middle school LA!

I am certified birth-8th grade but would not want to teach anything other then pre-k or K. I have a double major in ECE and Elementary Ed and a masters in Early Childhood Literacy.

I'm Pre-k through 5th, with a dual SPED degree. I can teach middle school SPED...not that I want to!

I have a Bachelor's degree and certification in ECE (Birth-Grade 3). I'm starting my Masters in ECE this Fall, and teach PreK. I get paid just as much as any other Elementary teacher in my public school, because that's how we roll in Alaska, the most wonderful place in the world :)
