I am in the process of enrolling in a Special Education Internship Program through CSUN. To get into the program, CSUN requires that you take the CSET or obtain a subject waiver. I need to take three classes over the summer and I will have a subject waiver for the Social Sciences. Problem solved, at least I thought. Today, I spoke with a principal with a LAUSD elementary and she said CSET no longer does subject waivers. She was not the first person to tell me this information. As per her suggestion, I called LAUSD NCLB office. I was told that I would never get a job as a special ed teacher with social sciences waiver and need to take the Multiple Subjects CSET. I was NEVER told this by CSUN. In fact, I'm finding that CSUN is telling me a lot of stuff and LAUSD is telling me the exact opposite. I'm super confused.
