I don't think that will work. We use a vocabulary course (which I like) that teaches prefixes, suffixes, and the Greek and Latin base words. They've taken to that--they see the connection between their core classes in what they're learning in vocab. I think what I'm trying to get at is solidifying the link so many of them felt today between the 'waz up' signal above the waist, the subterranean language of middle schoolers, and the 'thou art as loathsome as a toad'--the kind of invective my shy students would use. ideas?
