If you do a search, you will see that the original poster has consistently had the same obstacles in her path. As Aliceacc mentioned, there is a history that you may have known about, which led me to make harsh comments.

Beleive me, I do know the difficulties that arise in job searching. I also know that with age, most times comes maturity. I think no matter how much advice we offer, there are some things that just need to be learned the hard way. So, good luck in your search Maithal. I have nothing nice to say, therefore I will refrain from saying anything else.

Hey Alice and Frizz- I know you must feel so frustrated to be criticized when you have extended yourself and extended yourself so many times, beng helpful, offering support and advice. I've been there(-just yesterday as a matter of fact). Sometimes the most help we can offer is shining the light on the cold hard truth! Sure, beff is new and should go back and check the history. Other 'relative newcomers' seem to pop in and out occasionally to just stir up trouble. Consider the source and don't get too sucked into their drama. You've been more than patient, more than supportive.

I'm new here and never cause any trouble :D

At least, not yet

I think if someone isn't getting the message, just leave it be. Just my opinion :)

I agree with Anthony. I am not into reading the history of others on here. I based my response solely on the original post. My advice would have been the same for anyone in this situation, with a history here or not.
Either way, looking for a job is hard and opinions vary greatly on what to do in different circumstances. I just try to give an honest answer and hope it is received that way.

Didn't mean to offend anyone myself. I don't know the history, you're right. I did do everything in my power to secure a job when my husband was transfered and I was clueless about the new area. I ended up applying to schools forever aware but wasn't aware at the time. I was darn proud of myself when I got one and do think you have to go after want you want in this field.

Everything else on this site has been awesome and I've learned a lot. I guess I felt like sticking up for Maithal this morning and let my do unto others theory affect my tyypng. The history is important. My apologies as well. (but I'm still inclined to usually only offer constructive criticism. :D )

I'm going to go ahead and close this thread. I don't know the history so I have the exact same feelings as beff. Beff is just stating a fact... Reading this thread will make lurkers and new members very leary about posting here, which goes completely against the philosophy behind these forums. If you can't be positive or supportive, even if you believe not being positive or supportive is justified, then you may want to consider using constructive criticism or not replying at all. I see a lot of frustration coming out in these posts and for all I know it could be justified, however, when we allow that to happen things start to get messy. I think MissFrizzle said it best....
Sorry for being the meanie admin.
