I am currently preparing to take the FTCE Math 6-12 subject test in Florida in a couple of months. Since this is a critical shortage area, I am hoping I will be able to find a job somewhere in the state. If it doesn't work out, however. I would like look at teaching in other states with critical shortages. Does anyone know some of the other states with major critical shortage areas? Thank you

No critical shortages in my part of Indiana and the only area I would possibly think there would be critical shortages would be IPS (Indianapolis Public Schools) and in East Gary.

    Good Luck

If you are willing to relocate, I would think that you can find a job in Florida. Have you checked teachinflorida site? Good luck!

Thanks everyone! This is a great forum. I currently live in TN which has no real alternative routes to certification. I do plan to focus on getting a job in Florida, but I am willing to relocate pretty much anywhere in order to get a start in teaching. I figured critical shortage areas would be the best bet in terms of the likelihood of being able to get hired.

Welcome to the boards. Read Teacher jobs a thread I started. People have commented about states that have job openings. Good Luck.
