Our school is having an Olympic Day next week and all of the kids are divided up into countries. My group is representing Japan and we need to come up with a way to help others identify our group. I can't think of anything creative other than some face paint and a flag. I know that many of you are extremely creative and I'd love to hear your ideas of what we could do. Please keep in mind that we will be doing activities outside in the snow, so ideas need to be things that would be easy to wear or carry around. Suggestions?
will each of the groups be wearing designated t-shirts? or what? maybe your class could wear a white t-shirt/sweatshirt with a red ball right smack in the center...just like the Japanese flag. I'd like to know how the other classes are showing representation.
I don't know about all the other groups, but I heard that Norway is going to make Viking hats out of tin foil.
I like the idea of the t-shirts, but 'm not sure if it will work because we'll all be wearing snow suits.
I tried to look up some saying in japanese on the computer, but many just come up in symbols, which I have no idea how to pronounce.
What grade? Primary you could make headbands out of white construction paper and decorate them with the red. That would look like those things sumo wrestlers or ninjas wear. I bet they would get a kick out of that especially if you show some pictures of real people.
Our wing is doing Olympic Day too and frankly I don't want to since it doesn't directly tie into our SS unit. Which means I have to find extra time to teach them another culture. I'm all for that but we lost a week this week due to the snow and we have a few other things to teach all at once too. I don't have a week to prep them on this stuff.
