How long is your cover letter? I'm in the process of revamping my cover letter and I'm about to move to two pages. Is that too long?

Mine is one page. BUT I am a first year teacher so I don't have a lot of experience to talk about. I'm not sure about a 2 page cover letter. We need some principals to join these forums!! I feel like as long as you are continuously catching their attention it would be okay. But I would be hesitant because I wouldn't want them to get bored or something.

I just revamped my cover letter with the Jimmy Sweeney style. I sent out 6 JS cover letters today so I'll see if any of them bite. I hope! Since I revamped my cover letter in the JS style, it's still one page in length, but with way less. I think it stands out because of the style and because of the less is more mentality. I guess I'll see...

I'm pretty sure the standard (and prefered length) is 1 page.

I would try very hard to keep it to one page.

Play a little with the margins or font if you need to, but I wouldn't use a second page.

Definitely stick to one page. I can picture it being ignored if it's too long. Highlight what's most important and unique to you. Good luck with the rewrite process.

One page, definitely: think of the cover letter as a teaser to get the reader interested in you personally. There's no need to state, for example, when and where you obtained your license, unless there's something extraordinary about how you got there that should be highlighted.

You said that you are revamping your cover letter, then what ? Will you resend it to the districts you already applied to or is this for new applications? I already sent out my cover letter and resume to the school districts and I have heard nothing . I had thought about redoing mine. Should I send it to the same districts?
Thanks --I need all the help that I can get .

It's basically changing your cover letter into a sales pitch, instead of a traditional cover letter this link explains it a little.

Two pages is probably too long- are you including info in the cover that is already in your resume?

Mine is one page. I've also heard to keep it short and sweet. To make mine easy to read, I use bullets. I start with a small paragraph introducing myself and then move to five bulleted points telling why I think I would be a great fit. After these bullets, I elaborate just a bit and conclude my letter by asking for an interview. It could probably use a little more work (perhaps on my wording). But I'd rather keep it short and keep them interested and ask me for an interview to learn more about me, than bore them and end up getting mixed in with the rest of the pack.

*nevermind, saw that you got it down to one page :)
