Hi we're looking at countries as our topic, and next week we're looking at America, just wondered if you had any suggestions for any typically American foods we could sample in our snack times, and something we could make during a cooking activity. Thanks x

Well, I live in the south, so food here isn't typical in the northern regions, but here goes:

    Meatloaf
    Steak
    Hamburger
    Mashed Potatoes
    Cream Corn
Sweet Tea (Emphasis on Sweet -- It's a Southern Thing)
    Catfish
    Crappie (White Perch)
    Etc.

    Mmmmm, now I'm hungry.

Not to be a smartie... but American Cheese.
I was going to say hamburger.
Couldn't you make something red, white & blue... use strawberries, cream cheese, blueberries on a graham cracker or something.

I imagine much of our "American" food has its origins in other countries, but, then again, so do many of us!

For "all-American food" I always think of hotdogs, hamburgers, fried chicken, and apple pie.

Not sure how conducive those would be to a preschool snack time!

My first thoughts were hamburgers, hot dogs, apple pie.

I think I'd go with apple pie!

apple pie or apple crisp is easy, like the red white and blue idea also--- you could always do a flag cake--- make a rectangle cake, frost it white, use red licorice to make stripes (or fruit rollups), make a rectangle of blue frosting and put chocolate chips on it for stars
