Is there anyway to make this sort of fun?
I am reading the Reading Apprenticeship Handbook, and one of their suggestions is to have students read while paying attention to what they are DOING while they read.. (ie rereading, pausing, picturing, etc).. context clues are just ONE of those.. ask students to list their reading tricks, discuss with a partner, list as a class, make a poster..
You really should get the book- my instructors were from California, so I was glad I took the class when I did.
