I am about to start the second semester with my SLD SDC class, and I'm looking for suggestions for a good comprehension diagnostic for my students.

I have given the Prentice Hall assessment, which is a cloze type activity, but it's not very reliable as it's too difficult for most of my sudents at this time. I've also given them the computerized adaptive reading diagnostic, but I don't feel it's reliable because the questions are each timed, and some students take longer to process.

My class is sixth grade, and the reading levels at the end of last semester span from early first grade to grade level, with the majority reading around second grade level.

Any suggestions would be appreciated! :D
