Community crayons/pencils

    thanks...coworker told me today that when she taught my age group that the three year olds could do some basic cutting and the four year olds get pretty darn good at it before the end of the year. She said (and I figured as much) that my twos would need total help with their cutting. So, i think (as long as I only have one 2 year old) that I will use the " this is how we do this example" for the two year old.

    DAP would say, 2's and young 3s are better off tearing. they get so frustrated when they can't cut, and they usually end up shredding everything to pieces. It's all about fine motor skills and helping them build those muscles. So I wouldn't personally give 2s scissors at all. tearing out pictures is just as much fun and suits the same purpose.

    but of course, that's just another one of the reasons I don't work with 2s!

    I've never dealt with 2 year olds so I wouldn't even know how to answer that question.
