New York State has an excellent website for those of you searching for information. My school incorporated the Listening/Speaking domains last year. Students loved them. They have now created modules for ELA that I will use as well as math. The domains incorporate Social Studies and Science which eliminates extra time to teach those two subject areas. The only downfall to teaching the domains is making sure you stay within the timeframe of each one. The website is www.engageny.org. There is a ton of info available.

So with Common Core are there no separate Social Studies classes or Science classes? As a teacher who has taught both these subjects that seems like a big shame.

We still have SS & Science, but they are much more incorporated into Reading, as I understand it.

The Listening and Learning Domains incorporate social studies and science. For example insects and the human body cover science and immigration, ancient civilizations,
the civil war, and Greek metrology are domains covering social studies for second grade. There are several more, too.
